MS has nothing to hit back with, other than them releasing a great console which has no different game lineup than the existing one. This is what most people are dissapointed with. There are other counties than where you live, so inflation csn't realltbe taken into account in these situations. It's a goos console, but MS shoul've waited and realeased a complete next fen console with an epic lineup in 3 years instead. People will even buy a console for 600$ if it has the content that justify it.

I wouldn't pay more than 399 for this if I ever bought it. It's not a next-gen console and it would not cater to the masses at all if it gets priced much higher than that. Then there are better alternatives.

It's a good feature, but I'm not dying without it and it really isn't that big of a deal for me to have.
I never sell my old consoles and it's something special to launch the older machines up and actually playing your game on those instead of using BC, it's really not the same thing. Also, BC as has been stated in earlier comments, isn't used that much and the reason for this is, most people that like either older games, or retro games, actually like playing ...

I think this is going to end up pretty expensive, if not, MS won't earn much money at all, looking at it short-sighted. Exact same issue the PS3 started of with. Will be interesting to see what the actual price will be.

People barely see or experience that minimal difference on small screens. It's only fanatics claiming that they actually notice differences on rolling material; and these differences are only there if you zoom in on two still images x10.
Streaming 4k material with a good line, does not give me any big perceivable difference in quality and for that matter, have you heard of a HTPC? Streaming isn't just Netflix, dude...
