Romero and Savini were really cool. Maybe a "sub" genre i'll give you that. I'm not a particularly huge horror nut but as far as my films go I like those movies that make you turn all the lights on in a house if it's dark. Bigger fan of psychological horror than all out gore but there are great movies in every genre. That is why movies are awesome.
Bubble for the good discussion. :)
I would personally call them survival/torture genre films. While at film school I was able to meet George Romero and Tom Savini. Romero of course created the Night of The Living Dead series and Savini did make up effects for them. I consider them very qualified critics and they were in total agreement with me. I am not criticizing the SAW franchise but I find it very funny they release them on Halloween when I don't consider them horror.
My examples of horror: Alien, The Ome...
I hear you on that. I put some hours into that game but it has been retired to my hall of fame with the likes of Goldeneye, Medal of Honor, Warhawk and Resistance. That's pretty elite company if you ask me.
Hey there name is on it. They put money into it and they promoted it. That is called guilt by association in my book. I have played much worse games but Prototype is not the end all be all of super hero games. Don't get your feelings hurt because someone criticizes a game you like especially that one because it's going to have some critics I'm afraid.
Killzone 2 is more memorable at least as far as scale goes.
@Breakfast: You obviously live under a rock.
@AllTimeGreatness: It's good that people have different opinions, otherwise life would be boring kind of like COD4 is now.
Played a lot of COD4, KZ2, and R2 online and they are all great and memorable but my king is still Resistance online. Fast paced and fun was what it was all about. In the early days of PS3 it was a saving grace for the system because it actually showed people the PS3's potential. Honorable mention for Call of Duty 2. That game almost convinced me to purchase a 360, until I saw Perfect Dark. haha.
I don't care what the acronym is for either game. I know which one is better.
That was a good burn Bandit.
Ahh yes. The return of true Bullet Time.
You are forgetting the fact that the 3DO's price was $700 when it launched in 1993. Games were $55 a piece. When playstation one was launched in 1994 it's price was $299. Games were $45 at launch.
The Atari Jaguar launched at $250 but had horrible launch titles and was not able to sustain itself through the holiday season. The controller also had 15 buttons which most consumers were not fond of.
3DO System Sales= 2 million
Atari Jaguar= 250'000
PS3= 2...
LoL that was a funny joke.
Right up there with Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey.
I played crackdown and believe me it's still a funny joke.
It's not horrible, it's just that there is a sense of been there done that throughout the game. My recommendation is definitely rent first.
@xabmol: Thanks for the compliment and the video. Bubble for ya.
Sorry but you are wrong. If anything the film industry is finding ways of making money from video games. In the last few years look at the quality licensed movie games.
Lord of The Rings: The Two Towers/Return of The King
The Warriors
James Bond: Everything or Nothing
Chronicles of Riddick
The Godfather(flawed game but sold very well)
Lego Star Wars/Indiana Jones/Batman
and of course Ghostbusters(my gamestop sold out twice already)
...
First film school was established in 1919 in Moscow, so it's been around awhile.
Slightly off topic but Saw movies are not horror.
I wonder why that is?
Ha! Apparently I touched a nerve. You can quote all the statistics you want to me but my opinion remains unchanged. You can have superior Fuel and Prototype games I played both on each respective console and they were lacking in all areas. I have seen the eight hundred comparisons of Ghostbusters and the difference is so minute that I'm laughing that one off. Red Faction looked better to me on my PS3 than my friends 360. I didn't go to a website to look at the comparison I used my eyes a...
