Uncharted or Mass Effect.......I say Uncharted but probably because it seems like the underdog, didn't get enough hype, and was underscored IMO.
If the announcement is at 2008's E3 then 2010 or 2011 for Xbox 3? Maybe 2012?
The sad thing is that it seems Microsoft wants to turn consoles into a Pc-like market as well(upgrade every year, standards to meet) when the point of consoles is to be unlike Pc's and have a basis of power for years.
PS3? And if it's 600K to 400K standalone only then Blu Ray is killing. Also, does the Xbox 360 HDDVD drive count as standalone?

Will the HDDVD players sell more than 40% of PS3's? I don't think so.
Sony needs to PUMP marketing EVERYTHING into this game. It's just too awesome. Unfortunately it probably won't sell as much as Halo 3 or Galaxy, and won't be GOTY like it should. And yes, I've played all three for over 8 hours. Uncharted wins.

Gears of War cover system.
Really who cares if it's a clone if it takes every good part of great games and takes them to a new level? Gears of War perfected cover system, Tomb Raider was great at the jumping-treasure thing, Resident Evil for it's scary atmosphere. When you put them together well and add something new(modern pirates) and have a great storyline, that makes a great game.
I want the sequel NOW!
