Fanservice-y outfits don't really mesh with chibi-style character design.
I don't have any reason to buy a PS4 since there's no backwards-compatibility. I did have one pre-ordered for Witcher 3, but then I decided to upgrade my PC instead.
Really, it's the same as any other console. It all comes down to the games. Are there enough games announced for the PS4 that you would buy for the PS4 that you'd be happy with for at least an entire year before seeing anything new? If that'll satiate you, there's your reason to buy a PS4....
It's kind of a valid point.
Like many games, it's got a screwy difficulty curve--where the game starts out harder than it'll be an hour later.
But, yeah, expecting a well-formed opinion from IGN is silly. Most of the time, they don't even manage legitimate reviews.
I think I mis-spoke a bit. When I say enemy officer, I mean the generic officers. Actual playable characters still provide a challenge--albeit only on the highest difficulties. There's enough challenge to the game that it's fun, but at the same time lacking in enough areas to constantly be noticeable.
Well, like I said, I have high hopes for Empires. So, if you're not looking to return to the series right away, I'd suggest waiting for that. If you do want to j...
7's main draw was the competently-told narrative... which, like I said, 8 has as well. So if you've been away from the series for a while, definitely get 8. The gameplay improvements are well worth it.
The gameplay feels great. It's the one aspect they polished to perfection. Combat has a lot more depth and is fast and fluid, there are different weapon types with a rock-paper-scissors dynamic--you can switch between any two weapons in battle--and everything just flows really well.
The AI is one of those things that's gotten worse. I've only been playing on normal and hard, but contrasting it to normal/hard in prior games... it's a definite step down.
I'm honestly very surprised by the game.
Some parts of it are just so much better than any other of the current-gen musou games... and other parts are just so much worse. It's certainly a game of extremes.
I don't think it's a nice incentive at all. Nintendo has had a lot of very nice promotions in the past (like that SMT4 x FEA one that's still going on) but this sure as hell ain't one of 'em.
Basically, you have to add $100 to your eShop account to get $10 back.
That would be asking a lot if the WiiU eShop had the same amount of content as the PSN or even 3DS eShop... but it doesn't. That's a lot of money to add to an account for t...
Wow, I was hoping for something a little less obvious. I think most people figured out they should save often after getting killed in the tutorial before even being able to attack.
...
I don't think so. Twilight Princess does everything Ocarina of Time does, but better... except for the time-travel mechanic, which Majora's Mask does better.
Many of the things you've listed (online gaming, connectivity, digital distribution, hybrid-genre games, open world games, rhythm games, etc.) were going on LONG before this generation started.
And many of the other things you've listed are meaningless terms ("the way the bar was raised graphically," "the way games have become more dynamic," realism, etc.).
And most everything else you've listed... is a negative (DLC, trophies,...
...Been looking forward to this.
There's a seriously painful lack of good thieving games.
Well that's certainly better than Final Fantasy VI, Secret of Mana, or Breath of Fire II.
Basically, there's this really bad indie game called God Mode, and the devs took a month or two to re-skin that crappy game in order to defecate the garbage you see here.
I like how he claims 3rd parties are giving up on handhelds, when the 3DS has had better 3rd party support than any other Nintendo console, and the 2nd best-selling 3DS game worldwide is a 3rd party game... that has only been released in Japan.
Odds are you've never played any of Artdink's Gundam or Macross games, as you'd have to actually import them from Japan.
Of all the Gundam games that have been localized overseas, only two were any good--not great, but not bad--and that was back in the early PS2 days.
Clearly, you've never played any of Artdink's games.
They know what they're doing.
Honestly, I don't feel like the PS3 has that many classic titles. Well, looking solely at exclusives at least.
I'd say the only games that really qualify (to my standards) are Uncharted 2, Yakuza 4 and Valkyria Chronicles.
That said, there are a few other PS3 titles I consider classics that don't quite count due to being multiplatform--Dark Souls, Shadow of the Collosus, Sleeping Dogs, and a whole host of digital PS1 titles.
Civilization does the same thing.
It's all about complexity.
All fans want is more of the same. With simple games, more of the same results in a proliferation of simple games--which gets boring and silly very quickly. More complex games, like Civilization and Total War, can release the same amount of supersimilar iterations and it's easier to accept them because the base game is much more complexity. We are more impressed by complexity, more prone to ...
Probably a good idea. I can't think of any other game in history that was so bad they put it back into development AFTER it was released.
