Point of both the PS3 and Xbox 360 is to play games. Which has more 8/9+ Games? The 360. Which has an absolutley huge library of Games? The 360. Overall, for what it's meant to be, the 360 is the better deal. More games for cheaper.

If they drop the price before Halo 3, Fable 2, PGR4, GTA:IV and the ton of System Sellers they have, they will undoubtly sell a godly amount of Consoles.
The only reason the PS3 is priced so lowly is because stores aren't selling stock. I live in the East Anglia region and every store in my city has signs in the streets saying they've got PS3's for cheap. I've seen them priced at £380 + 2 games. I've got pictures dated from the past 2 weeks showing my local Argos (The largest retail store in the UK) showing they have around 55 in store each week. I own a Wii and Xbox 360.
I own no games for the Wii and tons for the 360. Nintys Hardware Sales are up but Software sales are even being beaten by the PS3's.

It was most likely originally planned as a Multi-Platform Game, but like Alan Wake and such, Microsoft turned and said "We want that game" and threw a few million about.

Sakaguchi is one of the best RPG makers out there, with Nobuo Uestumu (SP?)at his side aswell, it's obviously going to be a great experience. Square REALLY messed up not keeping these two.
