It's called Game Developer's Conference for a reason, it's about 70% networking and learning from other developers and 30% gaming and other activities. Usually the game announcements you've seen in the past have been a part of a bigger more developer oriented plan e.g. Gears 2's announcement was to showcase the advancements in UE3.

At least they changed the colour from that horrible cheap looking white. It's still ugly compared to HTC's latest phones, the Touch Pro, Touch, and Touch HD. Those phones are GORGEOUS.
