Theres a rear view in mk, buts its on the tv.
Its better to press a button, and see behind u on the screen, than look up and down.
We might get a video editor, for mk tv. Thatd be a nice use of the gamepad.
What they have already, is fine. Luckly the game looks amazing to the point where it overshadows and short comings.
My guess to why they dont add voice chat in something like MK, is 'cause they dont want people swearing at parents kids.
They want it to be a safe environment, for younger kids to enjoy themselves.
For instance, wii sports club, they let you create costume messages, for online play, but you have to first submit them, to be approved by a moderator.
Nintendo wants to bring people together, physically, hence why they dont really focus on online play.
This isnt the next wiimote.

Either way, it sounds like MK8 will have online mode features(like mk7) to include/leave out specific items, to your choosing.

The OR devs said their consumer version(not due until '15), will be a higher resolution than their dev kit version 2(which is 1080p and some form of oled).

The reason why the OR chose PC as their platform, is because of the ever growing hardware.
Since the OR team isnt confined to fixed hardware, like the ps4, they can create an even better OR experience down the road.

Nintendo isn't rushing it.
Titanfall just sounds like greedy MS and EA rushed it out too early, and Respawn didnt have time to polish it. I'm sure we'll see some patches, in the future.

If they included a track editor in mk8, then there would have to be a track editor in every MK, going forward.
Otherwise a lot of people wouldnt care to buy MK9 when they can make their own tracks on 8.

Theres been patents and ideas of Nintendo updating the video chat, even multi video chat conference. They can also make an APP through the OS to allow video calls while in any game.
