Thats because thats what publishers thought gamers wanted. They were trying to copy cods formula not its budget like this guy is saying about destiny.
Ya this idea that destiny selling well, would cause other publishers and developers to spend this type of cash, is just stupid. They have always had the chance to make huge games but the risk just doesnt add up and it still wont. I hope destiny is great because it looks great and I dont want to see some huge triple A games out there. Theres a place for games of all budgets. Having this game succeed or fail only effects the future of bungie and activision. And please, stop comparing it to bord...
Hey ms capitalized on sonys crazy ps3 prices a lot too. The crazy price tag made the 360 sell like crazy at first then everyones friends have an xbox and its hard to come back from that. Sony Is taking advantage of being the more intelligently designed system this time.
every company patents anything they think of. All a patent means is they thought about it. The playstation was revealed in february before e3

I dont get how now could be in any way bad for sony. If the prices are 10000$ who cares, dont use it. Its not bad since ms and nintendo dont have their own service. I dont know who these writers think were just buying a ps4 for now. If anything its more for making it cheaper for people who never bought a console.

that 300M is already spent having it fail now wouldn't lose them any more money. Obviously they do expect to profit off of it. Also as orange said they used gaikai to develop the play while you download and other ps4/psn features. They also got all the servers and patents they held.
but what would be the market to play some games you already bought on the psn a few years ago. Then if you wanted to play something else on now you would have to buy it from the store at a high price.

to play older games you couldn't otherwise. Alot of people are veiwing these prices from the perspective of already owning a ps3 but that would be against the whole point of now. I also dont see in anyway how this could be a nail in the coffin. The vast majority of console buyers probably dont even know what the service is, so if it never takes off huge its not going to kill sony; thats just stupid.
I do think sony should do more updates but monthly updates just to do updates slows the process down a lot. Each time you finish an update theres a lot of testing and reading for release that needs to be done. Doing one large update is quicker overall but you have to wait longer for somethings.

yep more awesome insider reports of possible games that are unannounced possibly being announced at a game convention. Maybe there will be a few trailers about stuff too. Oh and sony may be working on a firmware update that will have improvements, and it will come out in the future. These insiders know everything.
well they have said from the beginning that you can release first somewhere else as long as those plans were made before joining ID. Their next game would have to have launch parity.
i dont really know anything about this kid and didnt even know who he was until a few months ago but a lot of people can collect money for charity. @MrSwank this idea is just not going to happen. You shouldn't worry about what the budget is. If they make a great game then thats awesome and buy it. If a publisher and developer thinks they can make a great game worth that money and take that HUGE risk then I hope they succeed. Games flopping isnt good for the industry. Do you realy think some publisher that in no way wants to gamble that much money will, just because destiny did it? Did all open world games just up their budget by 100m...
