They need a new engine. Using the old same one is lame. Fallout 3 didnt look TERRIBLE, but vegas now looks like crap since its using the same engine. You'd expect SOME sort of graphical leap

On xbox its highly concentrated. Go on any popular game and you'll find THOUSANDS of games/lobbies right away. PS3 has thousands as well, but not on that level
HOWEVER
On PSN you'll still find people spread out in the games. Want to play MW2? No problem, obviously. Killzone, still a TON of people playing (no, its not dying, theres still at least 100 games at any given time). And the amazing thing is, I went back and played the warhawk demo from YEARS ...
