you don't need extra chips to emulate PS1 and PS2. The PS3 already does both through software and then there's PCSX2 which is a PS2 emulator made for x86 architecture.
If the PS4 doesn't play PS1 and PS2 from disc it's because Sony doesn't want to keep milking us through digital re-releases and HD remasters.
I hope so, GT5 has horrible screen-tear everywhere when there are more than 2 cars on screen.
the funny thing about the emulation is that it forces all these things through software and it still looks good. Now if only Sony put all that power on the PS4 to emulate PS2 games like the PCSX2 does, that'd be like a dream come true.

they only remaster the ones that are easy to remaster. All the ones on PS1 have pre-rendered backgrounds and FFVI is all sprites so Square would need to do everything from scratch.

as long as Toriyama has nothing to do with it there is nothing to worry about.
character models look better on the PS3 remake but everything else looks much better on the PCSX2.

yeah, it looks like bullshots. Aliasing is non-existent and the depth of field is a bit too pronounced for its own good.
we haven't seen anything yet. Just first gen games and cross-generation games.
yeah, a port in full 1080p and not that weird 1280x1080 of GT5's, plus, completely stable 60 frames and no screen-tear would be enough for a PS4 port.
