It's still a cinematic pre-rendered trailer. They improve those much more than the real in-game engine.
The only game so far which has produced impressive in-game not rendered cut-scenes, is MGS4.
lol @ people saying Alan Wake looked so good in 2006... Now I see that comparison and wow, that 2006 screen looks awful.
I know this game will be great, but that 2008 shot is a cinematic trailer, it's not even in-game panoramic shot.

EDIT: ^^^^ Alan Wake was seriously downgraded from the PC version, thanks to the 360 limitations.
I doubt it will look better than KZ2 or Heavy Rain for that matter.

People don't complain about FF or any other Sony franchise, because the PS2 brought new IP's as well as the PS3.
The PS3 has been the same time in the market as the Wii and it already has released a lot of new first and second party IP's.

Third party games are going multiplatform now and Sony seems cool about it. They aren't worried about it or spending money on them like MS.
Sony first party titles might not hold a candle in tradition and recognition, but they bring a lot of new IP's every generation. They evolve.

The only time I play arcades nowadays is when I go to the movies and it's mostly to laugh or have fun with my girlfriend... I hardly enjoy them as a gamer.
They used to be great when there was nothing else available to match the WOW factor arcades had... Now we have PC games and consoles which are more impressive IMO.
Arcades are just victims of evolution and convenience.
The only PS3 exclusive which sucks, but looks stunning is Lair...
Uncharted looks stunning and plays great...
