Dude the market didnt changed. Right now Sony sells more consoles in a week then Microsoft in a month. And thats with more then 110 millions consoles on the market.

When Assassin's Creed was launched at the start of the PS4 and Xbox One gen its was such a huge mess. The game couldnt run. Problem to reach 30 frames... low rez. So many problems. But next gen that wont happend.

Its a option, did it make gamers buy more? Nope. If i can play all games of microsoft day one paying a buck or two i would pay it. But Triple AAA games should never be day one on any Kind of service. Dude, revenues are lower. This is playing with numbers. Less profit, less games sold, less consoles sold, more games, rented that are enough to make profit because it doesnt cost 15 or 20 monthly....

Sony just beat switch with the FFVIIV sold 4 almost 5 times more then the microsoft. There were never close to the Xbox sales. The decline in sales from Microsoft started the day they hide the numbers. The last 3 years in declined.
There also a diference of 110 million to 45.... not the same.
