It seems this is almost universally the case. It makes me wonder what gaming journalists saw in the game at E3 2010. I played the level they used for that demo and it didn't impress me.
I suppose out of context it might have seemed like the game offered much more, but actually what they showed at E3 was just about it... over and over again.
Only 10% of people can tell the difference between 720p and 1080p. This is not just me estimating, this was from a study referenced by Michael Pachter in the Bonus Round show.
If 90% of people can't tell the difference between 1080p and 720p, how many people can tell the difference between 720p and slightly-sub-hd resolutions like 700p.
Red Dead is 700p on 360 and I can't tell the damn difference. GTA IV is even less on PS3 and the difference is so ...
Complex game? Are you kidding me? The only thing complex about this game is the graphics and the AI, neither of which matter when a game does nothing to keep the player interested at all.
The vehicle combat is shallow and repetitive, the story is shallow and repetitive, the RPG elements are shallow and the gunplay is repetitive. The only part of the game I liked was the first appearance of the giant mutant. Admittedly, that was cool.
But I'm not going to...
I'm really beginning to dislike John Carmack. I don't care what he's done in the past, you can't make bold claims and deliberately controversial statements like he does every single time he gets interviewed.
Especially when your latest game is an action RPG that's too short and dumbed-down to be an RPG and too monotonous and repetitive to be an action game.
It would be like the developers of Final Fantasy XIII telling people 'the rig...
This sounds completely bogus to me. I'm not saying there definitely isn't an all-star Sony game in development, but the gameplay just sounds like someone's fantasy. If it is true, it doesn't sound like a very good fighting game.
One-hit-kill pickups? come on, that's what schoolboys wish for in a fighting game. It really doesn't sound like something a developer, who knows what they're doing, would come up with; especially with such an incredibly hi...
I call bull. Guerilla said it after Killzone 2&3, Kojima said it after MGS4. Now KZ3 and MGS4 are running on the Vita and Uncharted 3 surpasses all of those games graphically.
New PlayStation / Xbox within the next 2 years means more expensive games and consoles. I'd rather settle for good games with less than impressive graphics.
ND have been really attentive when it comes to the MP. They patched the summer BETA issues within a day when enough people complained.
Let's keep our fingers crossed.
Everyone disagrees with you because the summer BETA was awesome and it had all the features of this now (apparently) imbalanced Subway BETA.
Features are not the problem. ND changed the balancing of the game based on the data they collected but ran into unforeseen problems that they will probably fix.
If you want to see a truly broken BETA download the BF3 demo.
I'm sure after the amount of people still displeased with the balancing comes to their attention, they will fix it.
Uncharted 3 Summer BETA, there were complaints about connectivity. ND fixed it within hours. Lag / game dropping complaints fixed after one day. Damage / melee glitches gathered some complaints after 3 days and they released a new patch for that too.
They're on this... I hope.
I agree with you in that Gears is the best place to go for TPS MP, but I really don't understand how people can dislike the Uncharted 3 multiplayer (apart from this temporary, but serious balancing problem).
Generally I find both MP games equally fun. Gears is slow and tactical, Uncharted is fast and exciting. Ying and Yang.
But I'm glad you enjoy Uncharted's singleplayer mode.
They really need to fix this.
Uncharted 2 is my favorite game of all time. I thought MP was great.
I also loved the Uncharted 3 Summer BETA. It's disappointing to hear so many people have problems with blindfire. I can't see the problem myself because I live in Asia.
I hope Naughty Dog fixes this. Usually they're really fast at dealing with common complaints unlike some developers *cough* DICE *cough*
Firstly, of course it is.
Secondly, this is not the final build.
Thirdly, this is multiplayer footage. The PS3 / 360 footage that's been officially released so far is all campaign, so it's not fair or accurate to refer to this as true BF3 PS3 footage.
Seriously, is it just google translate, or do these German sites really have a hip-hop-gamer-level of disrespect for game journalism?
Ok the interviewer obviously does not know the fundamentals of constructing an interview.
First - Interviewers should rarely be heard if not seen. The questions are so badly structured it's clear the interviewer did not prepare for this interview
Secondly - Interviews are about getting valuable information. The interviewer is clearly just phrasing his requests for the game in the form of poorly structured questions - consequently there is no new informat...
Not snuff film, he said 'almost like a snuff film'.
'notoriously known by PS3 owners due to his remarks about the console'
Uh... Cliffy B makes PS3 games now i.e. Bulletstorm. His remark about the PS3 controller was tongue-in-cheek, which is why the interviewer put '(laughs)' beside that quote.
Apart from that what has he said? Lots of people whom I respect also don't like the Move. I disagree with them, but I can see where they're coming from. I also don't like Kinect, but everyone...
Enslaved does not need to be played. It needs to be watched. The combat and platforming design is terrible. There is no challenge on any difficulty and on top of that, the game is completely unfinished. No game that modulates between 5 and 30 FPS can be called finished. What's good about Enslaved is the drama and the relationship between Trip and Monkey. This was originally supposed to be a movie before it was a game, and it should have been, because the gameplay is really shoe-horned in....
As far as I'm concerned this game was released in it's Alpha stage. No attempt at polish. Look at pretty much every other Namco Bandai game, Enslaved is totally unfinished.
Not worth full price, but possibly worth £25 for those who missed out.
Lol the guys at Gamepro must be such a minority.
Sports Champions, Ac2, Bayonetta over Resistance?
Weirdos.
Don't forget GoW III!!! :)
Megatextures - created for the PC by a PC centric company and haphazardly ported to machines with completely different architecture.
Look Carmack, saying this like this after releasing a game like RAGE just makes your company looks bad.
After 6 years of development, with brand new texture technology, the console version of RAGE doesn't look half as good as Uncharted 3, which took 2 years. Why? Because Uncharted 3 was designed from the ground-up for the ...
