Okay... I usually try to stay out of things like this but I have to speak up here because no one seems to ever make this point. Uncharted's gameplay is not designed for the same purposes as Super Mario. Super Mario is about platforming and nothing else, therefore the potential for gameplay is almost limitless, it does not require context. That's a good thing, sure. But it's not the only type of enjoyment a videogame can provide.
Uncharted is supposed to make yo...
I agree that Fallout 4 isn't perfect but imho the idea that it's "bland", or "outdated" is part of the problem. My main qualm with Fallout 4 is that it abandons a lot of sandbox elements from Bethesda's oldschool games like Morrowind. Most buildings in Fallout 4 are just props, not real buildings with real interiors. In Oblivion Bethesda took away the ability to kill essential NPCs. In Skyrim, you could no longer even knock them out. In Fallout 4 people don'...
Seems Guerilla can't seem to take a step forward without taking a step back, even on new hardware. It's a shame. I was hoping I would finally get to play the multiplayer side-by-side with my brother. Not every family can afford 2 PS4s. Let's hope this will be the only thing holding the game back.
If it were any other dev, I'd be worried. It'll be a sad, sad day when Naughty Dog releases a game that isn't impressive. Everyone already expects so much of them.
Glad to see the Wii U is at the cutting edge of technology, avoiding redundancies that were outdated from both a legal and technological standpoint years ago! Happy 2005 everybody!!!!
Hope they still make Motorstorm games though. Motorstorm is my favorite action racer ever, I know I'm a minority on that but it would be such a shame for such a great idea to disappear into gaming limbo.
The funniest part is when they call it 'horror'
I'm pretty sure the next generation of consoles will astound people visually whether their specs are impressive or not.
Look, I love PC gaming. Every time I see a new game on PC it looks awesome. However, I also know that a lot of PC gamers out there love to point out how the flexibility of their hardware makes consoles state of the art for about 3 months, then obsolete.
But additional processing power on PC compared to consoles will only help raise the t...
Its nice to see Square Enix has its priorities straight. Instead of finishing a Final Fantasy game so many are looking forward to, or remaking the best game in the series, they choose to make sequels to, what most consider to be, the worst in the series.
Thank god we live in Bizzaro world, where this kind of strategy makes money and pleases fans.
I love you Square Enix.
Personally, I think getting rid of aliasing on consoles once and for all, having 60 or 120fps as the standard for all racing and fighting games, and a launch price of $400 or less is more important.
However, if they can do all that with a native 4k resolution, and I think it's possible, holy crap dude. What a leap.
One small step for phones, one giant leap backwards for gaming.
Before Every Gamescom:
Sony is going to make a big announcement! Maybe a new product I as a PS3 owner would want! Could it be a new IP? A sequel to a popular franchise? A new service? Maybe even a new system?!
After Every Gamescom:
Oh... Well I guess that'll help the company...and people who don't own a Sony system yet... kinda wish there was something for me to get excited about though...
Maybe Namco should have given the team more time to make a game that had some quality content, then. Sadly they'll probably use this as an excuse to put less money into Soulcalibur games, if any at all.
They announced Assassin's Creed Liberation. One of the biggest franchises of the generation has an exclusive game coming to Vita this year. They did spend way too much time on Wonderbook, and I would have liked to have seen Black Ops Declassified gameplay, but I agree, there was big news for Vita at E3.
So glad Ken Levine doesn't actually think gamers have a false sense of entitlement. After his Mass Effect 3 comment I was a little put off, but when both Ken and Amy start talking about that comment he made, and the value of player feedback it made me smile. These people know their trade.
Crysis 2 had really immersive gameplay. Great weapon feel, great camera acceleration, defensive mechanics, movement speed, target bloom, reticules, the works.
If only there weren't so many gameplay redundancies. In Crysis 3, I wanna pick something up and throw it across the room to distract people while I'm cloaked. That will make the picking-random-things-up mechanic useful. I want vehicles to be a legitimate yet optional strategy, I want power usage to be more bala...
I cannot believe there are still people who are questioning this.
I get that games are, in fact, a legitimate form of artistic expression. I would even go further and say that games of certain genres have an obligation to fulfill their potential as a piece of art.
But if you don't want to compromise your art, if you want to create art for art's sake, you have no right to charge people for it.
Art as a business is either commissioned ...
Yes they can. I cried during Mass Effect 3, after Infamous 2, at the end of MGS3, and the first time I played Uncharted 2, thinking Elena was dead. Why? because I was there. It was interactive, I wasn't just spectating. It was my story.
Schindler's List is an amazing movie but it didn't make me cry like any of those games... and I'm Jewish!
5 bucks says TTT2, Harada's Vita tease and Tekken Wii U are the same game, Tekkn 3Ds is essentially 1v1 Tekken but with TTT2 characters, and Tekken X Street Fighter comes out in 2014
There's two sides to the argument for sure. Naughty Dog and the first party studios definitely go for quality over quantity but as an RPG fan, I have to say quantity is a form of quality. It's not just value for money, it's a representation of the amount of freedom and choice one has in a game, something that linear games can't really offer.
As far as polish goes Nintendo and Sony (including Naughty Dog) are the forerunners, but it's Bethesda, and only ...
