The 360 will never take off in Japan, period. It's core market is American teenagers and college kids. This is not a troll, just the cold hard facts.
crank, you pretty much hit the nail on the head. Every since microsoft entered the console industry, I've never seen so many kids get so attached to a machine.. it's frightening. I've enjoyed Sony video game products for over a decade now, and it's highly unlikely that is going to change.
The $399 price point is what most people who already don't own a PS3 have been waiting for. I would expect sales to increase from here on in.

The Wii is NOT for the hardcore audience regardless of what anyone says. It's core demographic are kids, soccer moms and retirement homes. Mario was hardcore 20 years ago.
I don't generally follow or visit this "1up" site, but it certainly seems to me they have some sort of thing against the PS3. It was like they were trying to find something wrong, but were embarrassed they couldn't. And for that girl to say something along the lines of the PS3 version being the same as a low-end PC is just RIDICULOUS and people like this should NOT be involved in game review circles. Who is she kidding, she'll never buy a PS3. Game looks fantastic BTW.
