Releasing a couple weeks BEFORE your main rival is NOT a ballsy move, it's a safe and smart move.
It worked for MS over SONY this gen, might work for EA.
Releasing the SAME day? Now that would be ballsy, as nothing beats head to head competition.

Good to know, as I avoid ANY game that employs such tactics. I own 2 PS3's and I buy most games new. What happens when I enter the online code on the bedroom PS3 and at a later time I want to play on the living room PS3?

I disagree completely as consoles will NEVER be able to keep up with the PC's ability to upgrade on the fly and devs would STILL be restricted to old console tech in no time.
How does that benefit all?
Even if the next gen dropped tomorrow the tech would be old in less than 2 years and then what? Time for a new gen of consoles, again?
There are plenty of PC only devs in this business and the PC is not lacking in having great games...

I played the 360 beta and while it was fun it had a few problems that were really glaring. The movement never felt fluid as well as a really wonky camera.
Glad they are taking their time with it though, mp was pretty fun.
The sad thing is after 30 years of gaming I'm beginning to feel like the oddball. I come here looking for info on new games, games I already own and things of the like and all I read are numnutts bashing games they haven't even played yet or promoting a game they haven't played yet based on hype and hate.
Who does that? Or the idiots that bash other gamers for liking a game they find fun. Who's the real sheep, the gamer that plays games because it's fun ...
Gaming is not or rather SHOULD not be about who has the lastest tech to show off or brag about. It's about having fun and enjoying the games.
If having new tech so you can brag about graphics is really that important to you then why the hell aren't you gaming on a PC?
A lot of PC gamers make their living off bragging about how much better PC gaming is and it seems people who are ready for the next gen fit right into that group.
I hate to sound like the old gamer in the room, but all these "issues" started with the current gen of gamers. Most are not into gaming because it's a fun hobby, but rather because it's the "cool" thing to do nowadays.
Console gaming SHOULD be at it's peak right now with the emergence of more powerful hardware, online and DLC. Games SHOULD have a huge community with gamers using forums to better the game, not to change one game into another, ...

I for the life of me can't figure out why these companies feel the need to compete with each other for sales by releasing too many games at the same time.
There is only so many buyers and someone is going to lose, no matter how good the game is. There are 12 months in a year, why not use them all?

Funny I don't remember cod4 having a spec op mode, but it's the same as MW2 which does? Nor do I remember cod4 having a zombie mode, theater mode, bot mode, yet BO is the same as cod4 as well?
I'm blown away at "gamers" who are cool with a game THEY like NOT changing what they like about their favorite game, but downplay other games that do the same.
