Nice review, I'm glad you enjoyed the game as much as I did! Although I just wanted to point out that the classic Tomb Raider games were not exclusive to PlayStation - if memory serves me, the first game was actually made for Sega Saturn and then went to PlayStation shortly after and eventually to PC. :)
It wouldn't be Tomb Raider without it! I don't want to go too much into detail as I may give something away, but there's definitely a malevolent entity.
Like I said in the second paragraph:
"Tomb Raider explores the gritty and visceral origin story of a young Lara on her first expedition, shipwrecked and stranded on an island filled with beautiful environments, an interesting history and of course, a malevolent entity."
...
Heavy Rain's developer was Quantic Dream, not Dreams. ;)
Either way, very nice piece and a nice send-off to an amazing console.
Very well written piece and some well constructed points. Personally, I am very tight and careful with my money and I usually only purchase a game when I've read reviews from people I can rely on, or if I've played it myself (via a friend or rental service.) On the rare occasion, I have and will preorder a game and pick it up on release day if I've been anticipating it and know it's something I'll enjoy.
Tomb Raider, Grand Theft Auto and Elder Scrolls for...
Amen. I refuse to purchase any PC game from EA any longer - The Sims 3 has been basically unplayable for me even though I exceed the system requirements. I'll only buy an EA game if it's Dragon Age, Mass Effect-ish (since the actual series has ended) and perhaps the sequel to Mirror's Edge - ALL preowned, therefore EA will not get money from me.
If you'd like a fan opinion, check out my review here on N4G. It's definitely a must-play game and it's easily the best Tomb Raider game ever made.
Lmao! Utterly hilarious and undeniably creative! Well done!
I've put in 22 hours so far and I haven't even finished the story.
What I like most about this game is that while it's still Tomb Raider, it can easily appeal to a broader audience than just the franchise's fan base. It shares elements of other games of this genre, so players will find familiar territory to get comfortable in, and if one has never journeyed with Lara Croft before, now is certainly the time to do it, as she is at her absolute finest.
Oh my word! I won another! I so cannot believe this! Thank you so much, Cat and to the other judges for this tremendous honour! Congratulations to the other winners as well!
Must resist spoiling myself.....
Excellent read. A well written review - good work!
Yes please!
Very nice read. There are many different ways of capturing realism but in video games, it's virtually impossible for a game to be completely realistic and still be enjoyable, in my opinion. It would be completely daunting if you're trying to goof off in Grand Theft Auto and a single gunshot to the leg would impede your movements. In some aspects, I can see it working, but to an extent.
The fact that Bayonetta is not coming to Xbox 360 and PS3 is sacrilege, if you ask me.
Lmao I loved it. Absolutely entertaining.
This is my third consecutive win! I'm just completely taken aback but utterly grateful!
Is this real life? Wow. I feel blessed! Thanks everyone, and congratulations to the other winners as well!
Dexter would make for an amazing game, in my opinion.
You go, Miss Croft. This has been an amazing experience and I am so proud to be a massive Tomb Raider fan. This is easily the best game I have ever played and the best Tomb Raider game so far. I hope Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics are celebrating!
