this is sony's experiment with DD.
they made the PSPgo with an intent to find out how competitive DD model is currently, and also to give a better disparity to the ps3.
for example, people that might have just wanted the PSPgo would notice the price compared to a psp 3000 or ps3 and choose that instead.
face it, sony knew it was sending a kamikaze hardware to make it's other offerings seem better than comparison.
the sane xbox 360 fans didn't expect microsoft to do as well this gen as they have. honestly, who did? we ALL expected sony to steamroll the competition.
there were really no "xbox fanboys" before the 360. just people who "owned an xbox.....next to their ps2". of course i wont deny you have a few bad apples in the bunch.

japan does tend to pay subscriptions for games we generally dont pay to access in US, this isnt just limited to Monster hunter.
i assume capcom wont charge for the online, unless they REALLY want MH to be stillborn on arrival.
the game is having issues being accepted on consoles in japan as it is, and it wasn't exactly popular in the US. the PSP versions in the US have seen a huge turnabout, but console sales are still up in the air...
