The Halo series is higher rated than MGS. Higher than GT and higher than God of War.
Time to get yourself some perspective. You can fanboy hate all you want, but the Halo series is as good and as significant in the history of videogames as just about *anything*.
My predictions for lifetime sales:
Halo 3: 12-15M
ODST: 6-9M
Halo: Reach 10-20M
Regarding Reach, still too much to be seen what is happening there. But it will be bigger than ODST. ODST will take away Halo 3 sales (as Halo ODST is a standalone title, it could canablize Halo 3 sales).
Reach will be launched on an install base 2-3x what Halo 3 had, so the numbers will be big.. very big.

Look at DMP like Zune/ipod. They have skyrocketed in sales, services and sales of Digital Music are destroying audio-CD product -- why? Because it is a better format for users.
LaserDisk was *also* a better fidelity than VHS, but it wasnt as convenient -- so it lost the format war of it's day.

Without a doubt, few have achieved the status of "Icon". Of the last ~10 years, Master Chief of Halo is certainly the most likely to rise above.
MGS isnt really a widely known game outside of core-gaming.
Where Halo -- And Master Chief -- is appealing enough as a popular media icon that Steven Spielberg is now rumoured (and Peter Jackson before) to want to do a Movie based on him.
Master Chief has certainly risen to "Icon".
For 15 minute hiccup? $4 per month is nothing. I buy all multiplats on Xbox 360 because the Xbox 36o has a better UI, better onnline and better over-all experience.

It's not the "Xbox LIVE Marketplace".
"Marketplace" is their name for a store. They have the Windows Marketplace, Windows Mobile Marketplace, Xbox LIVE Marketplace... they havent said yet if this will be "Zune Marketplace" or if they'll move WinMo or Xbox Marketplace to Zune.
We'll have to wait and see. I wager the Tegra is plenty powerful enough to run Windows Mobile Apps and Games. Thus, I'd suspect this will be "Mobile Mar...

Slim or not slim, it doesnt really matter to the consumer really. The only person who benefits is Sony -- via reduced production costs.
That said, Sony had better deliver a serious **PRICE** reduction along with it. The PS3 better be < $200 USD by Xmass or they're going to see problems with 3rd party support of their small install base in 2010-2011.
