I'm betting about ~$150-200.

I'll be buying one on release day.

If they have Windows 7 compatible drivers (As I would expect) -- and it works with the Surface Runtime (as I'm guessing), I'll be buying two.

One for the HTPC in Livingroom and one for the Gameroom & console.

> Bungie is a mediocre developer but with all the money Microsoft pours into marketing them people convince themselves otherwise.

Utter claptrap.

Their is not a single other (non-nintendo) game series -- NONE -- that has an average metacritic score greater than Halo CE,2 & 3 since CE was released.

Bungie has gotten awards for it's AI.

Halo is a landmark series for videogames. It put story, technology, accessability, gameplay ...

Natal is not going to be the neXtbox. Natal will be a major add-on, it will work with W7, it will probably work with the neXtbox.

Yes, their giving a "console-scale launch" but that is about marketing and customer awareness, not about a "new console" - it's about the Natal as a technology.

The world has seen 2D webcam games (pseye, Xbox LIVE Vision) but Natal is going to need to be explained to the masses, hence the launch.

I agree.

Both the Xbox 360 and PS3 are going to be long-term "general" platforms for all manner of living room entertainment.

But, the PS4 and neXtbox will stll come-along as usual. The PS4 will be first (i'd wager).

6015d ago 1 agree6 disagreeView comment

And it wont. And MS has said this time and time again.

Dont worry, this will be -new- experiences.

@13.2

Their are people who *have* used it.

That is the point -- like this fcracking article above -- the people who've used it are mighty impressed. That's the point.

What did Johnny Cheung Lee say about Natal:

"Speaking as someone who has been working in interface and sensing technology for nearly 10 years, this is an astonishing combination of hardware and software. The few times I’ve been able to show researchers the underly...

"PS EYE are tracking in 3D as well, right?"

No. Totally, completely, 100% wrong.

Natal is *nothing* like the Xbox Vision or PS eye - they are webcams. 2D.

Natal is a *3D camera*.

Next week it will be Xbox 360/Wii for first / second and Sony back in 3rd.

Then ODST will ship and the Xbox 360 will make up any ground this month.

My Bottom Line Prediction: Xbox 360 still comes out over PS3 for the month.

6015d ago 1 agree1 disagreeView comment

Killzone looks good -- not as good as some like to think. But Halo 3 (and ODST) *also* look good.

But in terms of gameplay? KZ doesnt even approach Halo. Nowhere near approach.

That's the point.

@1.0

Oh, you've played Halo ODST have you?

In case you didnt know, Halo CE, 2 & 3 have a combined metacritic score higher than _any_ non Nintendo-franchise since the release of Halo CE.

Halo ODST will PROBABLY also be another stand-out victory.

Of course it will be considered for GOTY - it's pedigree is beyond impressive.

"Erm, we are confident that we are a million ahead. We count installed based differently"

No. That is not what he said.

He said: "We count the number of units in the hands of consumers"

Which means "we know that when Sony says 10M, it doenst mean that they _SOLD_ 10M -- because we know how they do their numbers".

How can this _NOT_ make sense.

It's perfectly obvious. When sony says "...

You cant possibly be this daft.

Let me repeat the article for you:

"after Microsoft had revealed a 9m installed base figure for the Xbox...We count installed base differently to them...We count the number of units in the hands of consumers"

What he _DIDNT_ say -- and you CLEARLY are intentionally ignoring is this: Son...

"being passed by 1 million I would say is a nice swift kick in the rear. "

Perhaps you're not paying attention?

Read the article.

MS counts _machines in the hands of users_. Sony does not.

MS says "9M in the hands of users, 1M more than Sony".
Sony says "10M". Not "10M in hands of users".

So, assuming that MS & sony have similiar supply chains (why wouldn...

Late 2008 Jasper Failure Rate: 4%
PS3 Failure rate: 10%

6016d ago 0 agree0 disagreeView comment

"No data is going to change that fact."

The *FACTS* are in the *DATA*.

And, since Jasper -- late 2008 - the rate has been **4%**.

Square Trade is the _ONLY_ source for data on hardware failures that has _any_ credibility (other than the unpublished data at Sony/Nint & MS).

As we *all* know, the heat failure was fixed a long time ago.

And, MS handled the situation with class -- for those who had failures, ...

What about E74?

The Jasper -- late 2008 till now -- has a 4% rate OFF ALL TYPES.

4% < 10% (current PS3 rate).

"more lies"

From *WHO* exactly? This is another piece of data from a 3rd Party Warranty firm.

The **MOST** interesting thing from this?

Jasper from Late 08 has a **4%** failure rate.

That's less than the PS3s 10% failure rate.

Square Trade is the *ONLY* piece of reliable data regarding failures. That nonsense poll was just ridiculous.

Bottom line here? The general hardwar...

"difference that is why it is sold out everywhere "

The PS3 phat -- the model that has stopped shipping to retailers is "selling out". Why? Because they arent shipping any more(!)

Their have been *ZERO* reports of the slim selling out. Anywhere.

Stop inventing shiat please.

"But no diference in Japan"

Why? Why say this? Its silly to think that a price reduction wont increase sales. Of course they will.

This is true for the PS3 slim as well.

The question (for us number-hungry n4g users) is: HOW much will both be effected by their price changes and what will the NA, EU and JPN numbers look like 4-6 weeks from now.
