And the voice codec should only go up for both systems. I know for sure somewhere I heard that a lot of people complained that even on XBL that the voice isn't good enough and needs improvement. You can REALLY hear the difference when someone is using a Turtle Beach or Triton etc. Their voice sounds part of the game, my voice doesn't really sound like my own says a buddy hah..kinda strange.
Strangely, I agree with Captain Tuttle. Sometimes even just having a friendly chat with people while playing a game can really up the online experience. I was playing Halo Reach one day and I came across a group of 5 people palying together and I got all of their gamertags because they added so much more to the online experience...having someone to jump into a game with, plan your strategy, point out enemies, have some laughs, stick six guys onto a warthog lol (this is Halo im talkin about). ...
Yeah, Xbox 360 always had headsets and in the early days before party chat (pretty sure party chat didn't come around till 2007 at least??) there was only private chat where you could talk one on one, so most people were using a mic. Those days were great, I could play CoD 2, 3 etc and talk to people and then suddenly nowadays almost nobody uses mic on Xbox Live it's a bit of a rarity. So I would be willing to wager that lots of people still won't use the mic.

Strangely I am not that upset by this news. I am sure it will be the same on Xbox (where all of my purchases went this gen) so I will be a little more upset when I find that out for the Xbox, but, I mean it seems a little crazy that it WOULD in fact all work with the new console.

Dont count Microsoft out yet! I was surprised that Sony unveiled so much, it was some of what I expected, and some of what I didn't (ex/ David Cage showing what the PS4 will be capable of). I expect the Xbox will have it's own bag of tricks!
Personally, both consoles are going to be INSANE. This is the first time I have been this excited about a Sony/Playstation product and is a must buy for me now. No more missing out on Killzone and such!

Not sure why all the downvotes, just look at PS3 and Xbox 360...games continued to get better graphics as the years went by due to developers getting a better grasp on how to utilize more of the systems, Ex/ Battlefield 3, Halo 4, Killzone (well that game was astonishing from day 1 across every release)
