While the Wii has the biggest install base, most of that is casual, rather than core gamers. The games that sell big numbers are games that appeal to mums, girlfriends, kids etc - games that appeal to the casual audience who, let's face it, bought thier Wii so they could excercise and bowl, not play FPS games.
The odd well-known franchise may do OK on Wii, but generally Nintendo is the only company who can say they've done as well as they'd like. Software - especially third-party...

Why is anyone surprised by this?
Why is this even being reported?
Reporting this is like reporting on games 'goling gold' or appearing on torrent sites - it happens constantly. Move on.
The 'writer' spends ages introducing a point that never gets made.
No legal knowledge is evident and no mention is made of who would be likely to sue, based on any precedent.
The writing is bad, is all padding and comes across like what it is: the rant of an idiot who's decided to write about something that's just come into his mind, without first engaging in any prior research.
It's a Wordpress-powered blog.
So, basically, there's not much ...
I'd love to see GoldenEye on XBLA or PSN.
Playing it on the restrictive N64 pad was tolerable back in the day, but having experienced the wonders of dual-stick controllers since then, going back to N64 GoldenEye is a tedious experience.
I think everyone's getting a little bit too worked up over news that is pretty much all ill-informed speculation.
Genius.
HD and non-blurry versions of previously seen shots, here: http://n4g.com/gaming/NewsP...
The compression on their video makes comparing the versions difficult. It seems that only the cut-scenes have been compared too, which isn't useful, as the difference between the Resident Evil 5 PS3 and 360 cutscenes is much greater than the difference between the in-game sections.
Screenshots are better for really getting to the detail. This gallery has in-game comparison shots, as well as those from cut-scenes:
The thing is, F1 could be too big an idea to limit to a download pack.
It'd be more like Sony to have a 'Gran Turismo: Formula 1' spin-off or downloadable game/add-on. Why give people one game when they'll happily pay for two?
I've been playing this game all weekend (the fruits of my labour can be seen in the form of HD videos and screenshot galleries over at http://www.gameswire.net ) and, sorry to say, it really is a 7/10 game.
For so many reasons.
Quality isn't great on this.
I know the game has a 'hue' to it, but still. Lacks colour and clarity. Not great choice of clips either.
How come all these "HD" videos are such bad quality? I suppose, when you use YouTube as your hosting, they cut down the quality somewhat during the upload process.
And yes, I was watching the HD version.
I have the PS3 version and so far have only attempted to complete Arcade mode once. On medium, with Guile.
I got through to Seth without too much issue. A few awkward characters popped up, but by paying attention to their attack patterns and identifying weaknesses a solution soon popped up. All good.
Seth on the other hand is yet another example of a cheap, illogical, unbalanced, spammy character that Capcom and other developers should just stop putting in games. Wha...
I'm not asking that in the usual 'why are people posting this sort of news' way. I'm asking it in a 'haven't we known this for ages?' way.
Import websites have known this for months.
Now, I'm not condoning piracy, obviously it's bad for the industry, but such a small percentage of 360 owners are doing it, compared to pre-owned.
Shops are legally able to sell pre-owned titles and the developers don't see a penny of that action. Pre-owned is much more likely to harm smaller developers of middle-popularity games, as the pressure for people to buy a less-than-hyped title on day of the release is much lower. And so they just wait a few weeks and then 'take a chanc...
Look, three FACTS for you all:
The Xbox 360 - great games, bad build quality.
The PS3 - Great console, not enough games.
Metal Gear Solid 4 - PS3 exclusive (for now) and will be awesome.
If any of those facts upset you or make you want to shout me down, my advice to you is to start enjoying the system you've bought and stop treating videogaming like some sort of religion.
"they are basically a PC company and seriously do not understand the console business"
That is an amazingly ridiculous thing to say.
Epic's recent success is a direct result of how well the company has understood and milked the console market. The Unreal Engine has taken the console market by storm. Say what you want about the games that use it, that's irrelevant - the fact is, Epic has not only understood, but has shaped the console market.
