MS didnt do this for the customers benefit nor did they do it to get back the money late, they MUST do it and will have to continue doing it to try and get the NA and maybe UK territory back.
They thrown everything into this holiday, now the 1st half of 2015 is barren of exclusives and big AAA game like Witcher 3 being delayed to May will hurt x1 more than PS4.

X1 + 2-3 games +50$ gift card sold for 329$ = Money lost
First of all last year was a launch, where x1 sold better than ps4 so it was expected it will sell more this year also.
The thing is MS lost money on every unit they sold this month which is 1.2 mil, that translates to tens of million dollars lost.
Price cut of 50-70$ , bundled 2-3 games, and 50$ gift card.
If you think they are doing high fives , think again.
On the other hand PS4 is making profit from the hardware alone.

And how exactly will they repeat this lead , this sale boost is becuz of black Friday, they reportedly sold 700k on that day with those crazy cheap deals and lowering the price.
If they dont do atleast a remaster for 20th anniversary, then its never gonna happen.
The only hope is if Sony helps to co-develop, it would be amazing if it gets announced at e3 or tgs in 2016.

actually i belive its more than 100k in x1 favor, so in this case 10 monts in a row.
The problem is x1 has almost no high profile exclusive till late summer when QB should release.
