Did the PS2 have any competition once it took off? The Dreamcast was done for. The N64 was done for. The XBox was done for. Sony was at the top and no competition came close. It won two generations of gaming.

I disagree with that because if I had bought a 360 ahead of the PS3, I wouldn't have been able to play amazing games like MGS4, Uncharted, and Wipeout HD. I wouldn't have been able to watch movies like 'The Dark Knight' on bluray and lemme tell you, that quality blows HD-DVD out of the freakin' water.
