3D is a great technology, given you have a great 3D Active TV in your Living Room.
But yeah, GDDR5 type of Ram is aimed at enhancing the GPU, not the CPU. It's why there's a G at the beginning and the 5 means the strength/speed.
GDDR5 is aimed at boosting Graphic Cards. That's why High End GPU like the NVIDIA Titan that cost 1000$ uses 6Gb of GDDR5. It greatly enhances it capacities.
