@kumquat,
PS1: September 9, 1995
PS2: October 26, 2000
PS3: November 17, 2006.
The other slim models were all released in September except the PS2 slim which was November.
I don't think there is much of a pattern. But I agree on November.
So they made two different versions, standard and launch, to make sure people are aware if they are getting it on launch day?
So according to Polygon, they did it for fun, so I feel better. I'm not one for attack ads, it never works for me. Looks like more than a few enjoyed it however.
Polygon article with Jack confirms what I said, plans were in motion for a long time before Xbox One and the DRM. They did however really enjoy the Twitter conversation about it.
You would need to define normal. As this is coming up to the second year that Sony has been public about the Vita. The first year E3 was proving ground and received allot of information, last year was a wasteland and they did it at TGS. So it could be the same again his year with TGS being the Vita show. Or they could not bother at all. I hope for the former and not the later.
I wish I could remember where I read it, but some body confirmed the blue power light.
I think they were right to talk about DRM and internet connection. I think however funny it might be it was very unprofessional, and they could have done it differently.
I don't know why but it came off as arrogant Sony again. Maybe I should have seen it as casual Sony?
Sounds like an excellent question to ask the playstation or yosp twitter accounts. I would suspect that if you can do that on the PS3 now, you should be able to do it on the PS4.
Where did you read that the HD was upgradeable? I tried to find this last night and didn't see it on the spec sheet.
This commercial is the direct result of your #PS$NoDRM.
They already had that policy in place for a very long time, they took that campaign to the presentation for the fans to tell them what their plans were. It never changed it just made them state it.
I don't see MS changing quite yet. They will likely see how it works out for a year and then see if they need to adjust their policy. Gear and Halo are very popular, especially for multiplayer which has yo...
They are always working on the next new model. It's for cost reduction so they can make more profit on the sale. Look at how many different models of the PS3 there were. While there wasn't much different between the 80gb and the 120 gb on the outside the inside was much different.
They might as you say after a while not start on the PSV-3000 due to sale, but I'm sure the PSV-2000 is already being worked on prior to them being aware of sales.
@christicehurst
The only thing always on is the microphone, not the camera. Could they be listening? Possibly.
The console is not always online. It has been confirmed.
It's likely that they didn't touch on FFXIII-2 much because it released in the prior Fiscal year. It was a February launch and their year started in April. They likely mentioned it's failure last year.
It's not unheard of for Sony to abandon hardware. The PSPGo was out for a year and discontinued. You could say that they did it as a stop gap for the Vita, but they continue to sell the PSP at retail. That version failed, but not the PSP as a whole. I'm sure they will come out with a PSV-2000 to attract more buyers.
For what it is worth, I think they are in for the long haul for the Vita.
Yes. 18 Million US dollars was the operating profit. It was likely down for PS4 R&D and as mentioned in your quote, due to PSP sales and Vita price drop.
Any profit is better than a loss.
It could be console fatigue, or it just could be the world's economy going bad. I suspect the economy.
From your linked article "Sony has yet to say whether it will stop production for other territories as well."
I think they still sell the PS2 in some parts of the world. Mostly Southeast Asia, the Middle East, South America. Sony officially started to sell the PS2 in Brazil, it had been a gray market import previously, in November 2009.
While those markets could be under 1 million, they could also be above it.
Edit: Just looked at ...
I enjoyed 6 the most, with 4, 8, 9 being the other FF that I loved, so I can appreciate #1 on the list.
I would have put Skies of Arcadia on the list at #2.
@Grimicyn
Not directly in front of my system, but it is buried.
You have to go to the store, then settings/other. Scroll, there is a purchase history (could be called download history).
Morgan replied to a comment on the US blog that they will post that information on next Monday's PS+ update.
Strangely, a few games are now being released in August when that is traditionally a dry month. Most choose November to get in the golden holiday release schedule. Perhaps the PS4 would be releasing in late September or early October?
History has the PS1 launching in September so it not unheard of, although the later models where in October then November.
@Rainslacker,
Thank you for the clarification. Looks like I was in the Launch Edition crowd.
I had not been to the PS4 page on Amazon since I pre-ordered Monday night @9pm, and was puzzled at first by the two editions.
