Not necessarily. It is a valid complaint. I know the XBox I used to have sounds like a jet engine and if you had it within five feet of you while playing you had to have the TV insanely loud.
Some people don't like to have the volume at +35 because they aren't deaf and can hear it just fine at +8. When the noise of the hardware takes +20 to drown out it poses problems.
Also, some people play at night when other people are asleep so the volume has to be low. Then,...

Played Resistance multiplayer for a few hours and it was still cool.

You can't really compare the stock to the success or lack of success of the console they make if you are doing it with Microsoft or Sony. They make a lot of other products that impact the outcome of stock price that don't necessarily have anything to do with the console itself. As the saying goes, you are comparing "apples to oranges". I don't see Black & White 2 on that list. Or Caesar IV, Age of Empires, Titan Quest, World of Warcraft, Vanguard, Everquest, and especially Spore (wtf happened to this game? Is it ever coming out?). I don't think any of the "Sony Fanboys" should be upset at all. I would consider those sales figures quite well when you compare them to the XBox 360 sales figures of the same month last year. The Wii is destroying, but the 360 only sold roughly 280,000 units the December after their launch. Soooo... ...
Actually, when consoles are sold to retailers it is called being sold to an "installed base" and they legally cannot state that they are sold to consumers. A lot of companies throw that one around because that is the most accurate statistic for getting an idea of how much product is out there.

Not trying to dis or flame or whatever but if you live close to Bend, Oregon or know anyone who lives in the area there are at least 10 HD-DVD drives at every store that carries them here. Shouldn't have a problem picking one up.
