While I agree that HD-DVD isn't dead 'yet', to further the point that they are already well on their way to being so, compare the launch dates of HD-DVD players and the launch date of the first Blu-Ray players (including PS3). I think you will find some interesting data and some answers as to why the statistics might show that for the year 2006. Actually, consumers are saying they have cleared the path for them to win if they haven't won already. I haven't seen a press release from Sony saying "Hey guys, guess what? Blu-Ray promptly handed HD-DVD it's butt in battle! GG Guyz!"

The majority of the Wii owners will tell you that it is an 'impulse buy'. That is kind of an ugly term though.
