The CoD franchise is very much overrated ... although it IS an excellent game, I dont think it deserves as much praise as its received since MW2. (although MW2 was definitely a new experience in gaming, it strayed away from the usual WW1 WW2 scenarios in war games.)
GTA4 was a disappointment of monumental proportions for me. I was very excited about it, in the big city anything couldve been possible. But they dropped the ball ... the formula was there, but they just didnt ...
The only reason I dont agree that Castlevania will be winning this award is not because I dont think it'll be great, it definitely will be an amazing game.
But from the footage i've seen, there hasnt really been anything NEW gameplay-wise, they've grabbed elements from some of our favorite games in the past like SotC and GoW, which is very exciting, but when we play I guarantee we'll have a "Been there done that" feeling as we control him in his adve...
Lot of people feel GOTY edition games are a slap in the face to early adopters, but i dont really feel that way.
It just makes sense to re-release a GOTY edition with the dlc and beta access to future games.
I wont be purchasing it considering I have all the DLC already, but I DO hope that some of my friends that HAVENT gotten their hands on this GEM of a game see the GOTY version as a must buy.

FFVII was a title that pushed JRPGs to new heights. Although now JRPGs are not nearly as good as they used to be, FFVII was released at a time where games had just entered the 3D realm. To say this game was overrated is like saying the NES was overrated.

Both those games are just absolutely amazing ... they'll never be swept under the carpet and forgotten.
The fanbase was just MASSIVE, so a small portion of dedicated players is actually a pretty big number.

As long as the game is good, and you understand RPGs, it doesnt really matter.
Since you've obviously just begun playing RPGs this Gen, considering you've never played an FF game, then i understand why you'd be put off by that kind of system.
Its funny how third party companies are making move peripherals and are allowed to make their own version of the DS3 if they want, or HDMI wires, or hard drives, or mouse, or keyboard, or bluetooth headset, anything!
But M$ dont allow ANYONE to make ANYTHING for the 360 cause that would mean they cant monopolize their own products and hike the prices.
Im very into that middle-earth type scene, so I would at least give this game a shot before completely letting it fall off my radar.
It might have an amazing battle system, or a great storyline, excellent voice acting and execution when it comes to the plot and how it unfolds ... the little things that make a game great.

On Topic: Everyone cuts costs, especially when it's little things like this that arent really needed.
When things get cut from a project for cost issues, they cut whatever it is that they feel is unnecessary, just like the processor was cut from Kinect.
In the end, the product stays practically the same, and everyone's happy.
Nor have I researched their plots or anything along those lines .... so if the story doesnt take place at a point in time where i'd have to have played the PSP games to understand it, then i'll be happy.

When ME2 was released, there were articles that mentioned that the transferable events you're talking about really ahd no effect on the storyline whatsoever. It IS exciting to be able to start a new game and hear mention of something you did in the prequel, but it didnt have an effect on ME2's overall storyline at all.
I do agree with you though that playing ME1 before ME2 will clear up some potential confusion about the universe and its history and inhabitants. But...

The 360 system has been waiting for a heavy hitter title for a LONG time, they havent had one since the last CoD.
Halo:Reach is essentially the reason to OWN a 360 considering it's the most recognizable title on the system.
