LOL thanks for listening!
This thread is a great example of who runs this site. I've never seen so much immaturity in my life.
@Darkpower - I don't think you read his review. He said great things about the game but disliked the fact that the cut scenes took him out of the game. I feel the same way. Once I start killing and moving around and getting my groove on, a long cut scene takes me completely out of the game. If I skip a cutscene, I might miss something important. Yes, the Drebin shop is cake to figure out but I liked the information that I received from the Drebin dialogue. It was essential to the gamepl...
Halo, Ninja Gaiden 2 and MGS4 are all completely different games with completely different gameplay. Halo scored higher on this site because they like Halo. It's that simple. MGS4 scored lower because they like MGS4 less. Same with NG2. They liked it more. YOu can't compare oranges to apples. However, if Splinter Cell scored higher than it might be fishy. No matter what, you have to respect their opinion as a reviewer. Play TM has a good track record. All I'm seeing here is people b...
Anyone that slams this review is a tool, regardless of whether you like the game or not. He was spot on with every claim he made and backed it up with factual information. The cut scenes DO take you out of the game. Skipping them means you miss out on valuable information. Imagine if you skipped the Drebin scene? That would have killed your gameplay options throughout the rest of the acts. You are basically forced to watch the cutscenes for important info. I just want my mission object...
Same post, different week. Maverick = Loser
The game publishers are responsible for the invites. You can't just get into E3. The publishers send a list to the ESA group and then the ESA sends you an email. You can no longer just register for E3 and get in. Goes to show how much you know. The fact that people agreed with you is even funnier. I love it when people think they know stuff but have no idea whatsoever. Lastly, there were at least 3 publishers that invited my group to E3. They started the invite only thing last year. E...
"Guns of the Patriots is ruined, yes, that word is ruined, by a flagrantly over-indulgent director intent on losing the player in a near incessant stream of tedious techno-babble narrative that will mean absolutely nothing to those gamers not heavily invested in the ongoing Metal Gear Series."
This is a good point here. The cut scenes do pull you out of the game. Pacing is important. In order for a game like this to reach gamers who aren't fans of the series, it woul...
They are a well known, top ranked site.
They didn't like the game.
Big deal. Move on.
See, a highly ranked site gives it a poor review and you slam it. A site a few months old with a very low rank gives it a 10 and you praise it.
What is this world coming to?
Everyone is entitled to their opinion, good or bad.
...if this site gave it an 8, this entire thread would be about how they lack credibility.
This site is NEW! Their Alexa rank is 621,124. Yet they are getting a pat on the back for giving MGS4 a 10. If they gave it anything less than a 9.5, they would be getting slammed right now.
Most people on N4G only respect the opinions of others if they agree with them.
It's sad really.
Wrong on all accounts Isaac. I was at E3 the year it happened. The year developers were dropping games that were already in development on the Saturn, for the PS1. Everyone that had Saturn games in the works put them on the backburner for the PS1 versions. Money was involved.
Also, VF has seen the likes of Saturn, Dreamcast, PS2 and now PS3/360. I had a 360 but not a PS3. Of course I would be pissed it was exclusive. Thank god it came out for 360 after all and was much b...
...that Sony did the same sh!t MS is doing now when they first came into the console war with the PS1. They were buying exclusivity on titles and basically pushed the Saturn out of any chances it had to shine.
Don't believe me? Do some research. Tomb Raider II is a good place to start and trust me, it had a lot more to do with money than technical difficulties with the Saturn. How do you make the Saturn the lead platform for Tomb Raider I, release the game and then have probl...
You know nothing about this industry. Your emotions outweigh your logical thinking.
All multiplatform titles should be released day and date together.
For the record, Virtua Fighter 5 and UT3 were timed exclusives that Sony MAY have actually paid for. Either way, payola or not, it's the same thing. MS does it more than Sony because they literally have NO first party.
I hope this nonsense stops in the near future.
"Anyway, as evidenced by Electronic Arts, Sony is the way to go, not Microsoft, since PS3, despite having a comparatively lower install base than 360 in the west, made them in revenue way more, in spite of the sh1tty madden ports. Considering how PS3 is outselling 360 in nearly every country where they are available now, it is a safe bet, at least for the biggest publisher in the world, to support PS3 over 360. Others will probably follow suit, because in the end, the PS3 is a wild beast...

MGS4 is great and changed the industry. It is not, however, a perfect game. There is only one game I've played in my life that I would call perfect.
It has the perfect solo player campaign.
It has a solid story and innovative bits of gameplay.
It has tremendously good graphics.
It has the best multiplayer modes and gameplay in the history of games.
It is none other than Call Of Duty 4.
It is also just my opinion.
Blah blah blah blah blah!
You're all game developers right?
STFU and play the games.
Great show as always! I love the comments Jon made about MGS4. I knew it wasn't his cup of tea. I DO agree however, with his statements of the game having too much exposition. It hurt the earlier titles more than this one for me though.
In order to get 1080i you need 540 lines per field. Odd and Even flicker on and off giving us the illusion that it's 1080 lines at once. It's cool but not optimal for gaming. 720p is better than 1080i. Both 720p and 1080p are both 'true HD'.
