Awesome pictures man. I think GT5:P has the best lighting out of any game I've ever played. Say what you want about the Aliasing issues on some cars or other small details, Polyphony Digital have absolutely nailed it when it comes to lighting and reflections.
Yeah, the new features that Sony has been rolling out are tied in with Home. Wouldn't it be neat if your gamer level determined what size of apartment thing you got, so you could have more space to store all those shiny trophies?;)
Agreed. Killzone 2's main strength(from what I can tell) is the stunning effects and animations, more than the poly count and stuff like that. It always looks better when you're actually playing it on your tv though.
Crysis looked amazing, if you could run it high-res at Very High settings. The lighting was great, the foliage was great, the guns looked great, the vehicles, the water, the textures, etc. Everything except the faces(arguable here) in Crysis was STUNNING. That being said, you needed to sell your soul to get a computer that could run it. Killzone 2 sets the bar for best console graphics, and it has a much better art style than Crysis, but from a technical standpoint, nothing that is out right ...
really do this game justice. It needs to be seen in motion to really appreciate it(same with any other game this generation really). That being said, I see lots of colors.
Excellent boxart. Everything I see about this game is just so incredibly charming. About time we get better boxart than Europe, considering they got by far the better box for MGS4.:P
That's all well and good(I don't use Wi-fi myself), but for a good HDMI cable you only need to add about $15.
I think what they don't realize, is that a gamer who picks up a used game for $20 or something, probably wasn't planning on paying the full $60 for a game anyway. I know if there is a game I'm only half interested in, I won't pay $60. But if a gamer likes the game they picked up for $20, and they like it a lot, when another game from the same people comes around they'll probably be more likely to pay the full price for them.
I agree it is crap. And I'm not laughing at people who aren't big buyers of DLC, when I pick up Rock Band 2 I'm going to be using it more as some fun with friends when I have them over and stuff, rather than a big investment of time, so I won't be buying much DLC at all. Plus, the lack of PSN cards in most places(I'm a PS3 only owner atm, I don't have the money to get a 360 yet) means I don't buy much extra content for anything at the moment.
This may just be so that you won't have to pay the micro-fees for song packs(as mentioned above), no use getting up in arms already. However, if it is just a subscription fee on top of having to pay for song packs and stuff, I too shall send a photocopy of my ass to Activision. In fact, I can almost hear the masses rushing to preorder Rock Band 2 already.
I really hope this is true, so as many people get to experience this man's genius as possible.
Versus has me curious as well. I'm wondering what Square-Enix is going to do with the FF13/VS/Agito compilation. Maybe they can have a situation where say, in FF13 they reference a War of the Crystals or something(something that happened thousands of years before and is only a legend) and a heroic figure named Bob(or some other obviously heroic name:P), and in Versus or Agito you play through that "legend" yourself, as Bob. Just baseless speculation on my part, but it would be quite...
are some of the hardest working people in entertainment. Havn't you read the stories about people sometimes working 12 hour shifts nearly everyday for extended periods in the crunch period leading up to a deadline? It's insane. Getting to grips with a tricky piece of hardware is like getting to grips with a twitchy sports/racing car. It's hard to learn and will take awhile, but once you do you can get some pretty impressive results out of it.
I suppose, it mostly comes down to art style preference though. Now for the million dollar question: Which art style do you think is better? 13, or VS? I'm digging the darker look of VS at the moment, but having said that, 13 is pretty fine as well.
EDIT: @HighDefinition: What art style is more appealing to you? Versus, or 13? And why?
EDIT2: Like I said, Versus is more appealing to my eyes. It's difficult to say which of the 3 games being discussed(HR, VS, and 13) ...
I'm not so sure about that. Heavy Rain is pretty close to this, if not tied dead on, but I think it's more to do with their respective art styles.
Versus does seem to be looking pretty sharp, but FF13 is no slouch either. It really depends on what screen you look at. For example, the close up of the redhead girls face doesn't look that great, but the shot of Lightning getting ready to take on those glowing eyed soldier things looks pretty nice.
Notice how they put the 360 tag next to every game that got a good mark(except Mirror's Edge...I think...)
And I wasn't aware Street Fighter 4 was at Leipzig? I saw the announcement about no platform exclusive characters, but I don't think that was part of Leipzig.
Agreed. Gamesradar make Kotaku look like well educated professional journalists.
Man there's no need to bring the 360 into this...
On topic, I just might get me a PSP now, instead of playing on my brothers' all the time.
