They had to over clock or boost a significantly weaker gpu, it started catching on fire so they had to design a heatsink no one has ever seen. It's ominous.
@TheHan. They were or this wouldn't be a big deal. The fact that they had to waste money on R and D to design an unconventional "cooling solution" gives credibility to everything. Heating issues, the need to over clock etc.... Sony had to waste money in this, 3d audio and just should've made a better gpu that could handle the load. A heating solution should not be news yet...here we are.
You gotta admit though. It kind of makes sense.
Constant power.
The sad doesn't matter if the gpu can't handle 4k textures. If the CPU can't handle 60fps...the goal of this generation. And by all accounts ps5 cannot. They aren't gonna make a special Mass effect ps5 edition with zero corridors. They shouldn't have to make ps5 pro. They dropped the ball focusing on an audio solution that wasn't necessary.
Audio was an invented problem. No one cared. Sony is making people think they care. They had the ssd. They could have used cheaper custom audio and gotten better CPU and GPU tech with saved time and money. My point was when you do comparisons, sound isn't talked about. I stand by my thought. That sound thing is wasted resources.
Sony did drop the ball. They solved a problem where one didn't exist with that audio stuff. They could have had a cheaper dedicated hardware solution then given us a better gpu. All the subscriber to df and there patrons is a clue. People want pixels and frame rates. The sad part is they could have had all Thad ssd stuff too. There is no value in spending money on something that 5 out a 100 people will notice. Mark Cearny should have to answer to the board. I'm a PlayStation guy and a...
But not for multiplats.....the majority of games. They wasted a lot of money not using a existing dedicated hardware audio approach. Or at least something cheaper than what they are did.
But no one cares about that. Df had never mentioned it. It's frame rates and pixel count. They have millions of subscribers and patreon to watch their videos. People care about frame rates and pixel counts. It makes no business sense. Under pure academic scrutiny Sony missed the mark.
I bet they didn't spend a crap ton like Sony. I'm saying Sony went overboard with it.
Like Kinect...we will see. I'm a PlayStation guy and I'm the first to admit that I am.more excited for the Xbox. Someone on the board should have told him no with that audio stuff. Mailing photos of your ear and stuff. That cost them more money in the long run. Its a problem that didn't exist. The money would've been better spent on cpu and gpu stuff. Along with the ssd, that would have been a killer.

What exactly is and an evolution of gameplay supposed to be? VR, no hands, Kinect, more NPCs, more houses to go into in an RPG or....? I don't know what people are wanting. I mean some sort of electronic condom thing would be cool so I could feel it during the sex cut scenes or something but I mean what else are people expecting.
Don't forget the heat and battery life.
We already have them. National treasure 1 and national treasure 2. Just different landscapes.
Yea, this a pretty dumb article. Im a PS3 fanboy and even I know there really cant be a comparison. BF3 will probably be one of very few games where we actually get to see what state of the art pc hardware can do.
@stevenhiggster: Wont happen. Even though this game is built from ground up on pc, the sales from consoles will destroy pc sales. Dont know if because of pirating (COD) or if there arent that many hardcore pc gamers. Console gamers basically fund developement for pc...
they know that the majority of sales are gonna be from consoles on this one, so that is probably the reason why. I think this is another reason why consoles are here to stay as opposed to what carmack said. Developers know consoles are their bread and butter. Standardizing across the board and the ease of optimization. Everyone is happy because it runs and looks the same everywhere.
consoles are here to stay because its a standardized platform. Every pc everywhere has different cpu, gpu, amount of ram and what have you and it would make for different experiences across the board. Plus you would have to worry about updating drivers and trying to get the game to work exactly right. Also, I think the quality of games would go down in regards to bugs and things since the pc has so much more resources to work with, they wouldnt go to the trouble of optimizing the game (becaus...
In the end they just designed a better system. Period. The whole hard drive thing is a moot point. It seems the MS sad with the velocity architecture and compression tech is no slouch. You can't argue the sustained clocks. The lack of interest in whatever "heating solution" MS is using. Their gpu can just handle it. It's a better system. I know I know, it's all about the games...fine. As far as hardware is concerned, MS knocked it out the park and they know it. That'...
