1. When it first comes out, the criticism will sound louder than the innovation, and it will be called a failure by near-sighted media and desperate haters.
2. Sony will plug away with it, absorbing the hate, until it becomes a success.
3. Microsoft will then copy the idea.

...whatever team ICO makes will get the props it has deserved for ICO and Colossus. They broke graphical barriers on the PS2 that people thought couldn't be done---can't wait to see what they do for the PS3.

Sony is much too complex for haters to fully comprehend. Sure, point out Sony's flaws, because there certainly are plenty. But let's also give props where Sony is doing things right.

Seriously, which exclusive should Sony blitz the world with? There are so many to choose from!
It's easy to mega-advertise exclusive AAA games when they come around rarely like they have this year on the 360, and will be easier for them next year.

Half of the Wii's sold are by little kids, old people who have no clue about gaming, fitness clubs, orphanages or hospitals. Just because a system sells a lot doesn't mean it deserves to have one of its games nominated for goty.

And yet, Mintroyal, after all that, you've not said anything against Morgan's main point---the full 1 year head start is being reduced to nothing.
Sony is not some small company that will collapse and close shop because of the current financial market. Give me a break.
With revenue coming in from electronics, film, music, etc...and the still hot-selling PS2, they will survive what you describe.

Oh, they certainly shall. They just don't have the power in their consoles atm. Everyone teases it now and puts it down but I guarantee you both Nintendo and Microsoft will copy this ASAP.

I suppose if this Nintendo-based writer ONLY had a Wii, and not a 360 or a PS3, it would certainly feel as if good and unique videogames are hard to come by.
As a PS3 owner, I know we're not hurting in terms of great games constantly coming our way.
