Profits come in many different forms than the standard 'game sales' that you place on Sony. MTX, GP subs, Cloud, all games being released on PC, All, not some, and of course console sales, MS is in all of those lanes, Fallout 76, Halo: Infinite, Elder Scrolls Online, and Minecraft, just to name a few, all generating long-term users who buy a shit ton of MTX and DLC on every platform.

My Elite 2 has a rechargeable battery, that lasts for 40hr+ of gaming.
All my standard Xbox controllers have (sold separately) rechargeable batteries. I also have rechargeable AA batteries that can be used with them. I never heard anyone complain about Xbox batteries. That was a Sony problem; thier controllers have not so great battery life.

Because MS pays a hefty amount upfront for big games, and FF7 remake is old now, so they could only stand to gain from releasing it on Xbox in any form...they can hope it's sells good on a system with fewer users or get a big upfront payment and possibly buyers of rebirth.
