That's how they make games like this work. It's a business cow at the end of the day. Set up "special items" aka skins, include grinding tiers, end-game grind x 100, hope people's ego keeps this game fed until inevitably the servers bite the dust 2 years later anyways.

You could always pirate it. So it can be used on Steam regardless of Epic's launcher. Luckily that will be an option for PC people who purchase the game legally as a license and choose to get the crack. 100% legal in the U.S. Distribution of the modified software is not however :)
