i look at 26 inch 1920x1200 screen and can tell the difference in all of the images. 1920x 1080 contains almost double the pixel data of 720p to say That this goes unnoticed is like saying "sub pixel font rendering" doesnt improve text quality and readability. more definition. more image.

Wasnt it 5 years before? according to that time line followed by pretty much all consoles before current, wouldnt that mean the console cycle should be over over. Or soon to be since ps3 launched a year late?

Wouldn't that mean significantly more power draw.
without a significant die shrink i see that becoming a problem.

Regardless This sytem is 2 to 4 times more powerful than the ps3. so look at it that way. Count pixels or whatever you need to do to understand, pc is just as cost efficient as a console depending on how high up the totem pole you want to go a PC can take you there.

ID Tech 5
Got some cool stuff, like the ability to essentially edit the same game over multiple workstations. and literally paint on textures in engine, creating infinite amounts of detail without actually increasing Memory footprint. Interesting stuff indeed.

Next generation. When all ps3 owners Demand Backwards Compatibility? I can foresee it being extremely hard to emulate the ps3 Cell Architecture on whatever the Newest Toy-story Graphics having processor Comes out without actually including the ps3 hardware in the next console. If history serves Ps2 Backwards compatibility was dropped for a slimmer console. I still wonder why the Ps3 Cant emulate Ps2 Titles. The ps2 had like 16MB ram or something like that. Are they backing themselves into a c...

Need a 60Hz TV and 60 FPS on PS3 to make 30 Frames Per Second per eye, Even with the Advanced Culling methods They mention outlining not rendering certain parts of the frame twice.... I do not see this happening this generation. If so Then expect An Extremely Sub-HD resolution, or cuts somewhere else to make up for the extra clock cycle appetite.

I would have said SSAO but since you said it ill say Parralax Occlusion mapping, Takes a 2d Flat Texture and incorporates Occlusion methods to make the texture actually appear 3-D and react to the angle and distace the camera is looking. Kinda Like DX11's Tesselation But with no additional Vertex/Geometry data

I think Perfect Dark used it heavily, And i know Crysis Does :)

GeForce 7900 GTX, you say consoles were at the same level?

I find it funny that the 7900GTX has benchmarks all over the internet of it attaining Max Setting 1920x1080 Resolutions at playable framerates in the Multiplatform Games at that time, Yet consoles were somehow Unable to do the same. :( IE Fear. Quake 4 Elder Scrolls Oblivion ETC.) Funny the consoles Being Handicapped at that time as well was never brought up.

Another example of rudimentary implementat...

pc owners do not care what format disc the game will come on, we always install. our hard-drives are what we pull tha game data from in order to play. depending on the drive to motherboard connection: PATA,SATA 1 or 3
all of which far supersede the transfer rate and Storage Capacity of any I/O drive be it bluray, dvd, cd, or hddvd by a far margin. Providing much faster load times. also graphics have nothing to do with the format used to transport the data from factory to the PC. Think S...

the devs used the technology where it counts. I always thought that if everyone hopping to attain beauty used the design philosophy of the GT franchise designer Yamauchi which is taking a photo and building an engine to get as close as a picture as possible in real time to "said" photo then things become top notch beauty. which is the case with Kz2. I have made a few observations which seem to make or break the kz2 argument.

I hope this doesnt mean that i get stuck with those terrible textures and UE3 looking shaders on account of lack of development. when I see a sandbox editor open and a 360 and ps3 syncing up directly from it, that tells me that there will be very little system specific optimization. i am however thankful that this game is no longer in the trees and foliage IMO they looked damn near close to photo-realism but soo much green and leafy waste of cpu/gpu cycles made the game chugg along. By far th...

what resolution does uncharted 2 render each frame at? just wondering if you know?

5902d ago 0 agree1 disagreeView comment

No news here. all they are saying is PC version of crysis 2 will look better of course it will.

Can anyone tell me what resolution most games are rendered before upscaling on consoles. something around 600P or 1024x600 (614400pixels)at varying frame rates 60-30 depending on how much they want to bragg. For the Titles that are graphically stunning, you see heavily reduced resolution, shadow quality, texture quality and above all clarity due to the upscaling you get a LESS DEFINED...

Yep :)

Read this :)

you can push crysis at 1920x1080 on any console out today.

but the question is a what framerate?

just like my old 8400 gs can push NFS shift 1080P full settings 8x AA
only at a bout 2 FPS. excluding some memory errors.

i always think its kinda funny people comaparing consoles on what visuals are used.

haha

they're just computers people. just a video card (usually ati or Nvidia)...
