The reason is real guns are black. There were people fatally shot because they used black toy guns to scare others as part of a prank. You would not have time to identify if the subject is holding a real gun or a toy gun as he points it at someone else's face. Therefore, toy guns now have bright colors to differentiate them from real ones.
I had a 360 years ago but it RRODed before I even started thinking about paying for LIVE. Therefore, I don't know if LIVE is much better than PSN or not. However, I'm totally satisfied with PSN and PS+ in term of online gaming and additional services like Netflix and Hulu. So, LIVE doesn't appeal to me as much as it does to you. Each to his own.

While Sony and Nintendo announce new games and devices, MS brags about sale numbers. If you follow N4G lately, most of the news is about the new PSP Phone, PSP2, 3DS, GT5, New games for 3DS, Killzone3 and so on, and every now and then you see "Greenberg hints at impressive Kinect numbers" or an article like this. The gameplay makes core games, not the theme. Super Mario and Ratchet & Clank Future series have colorful and kid-like themes but they are definitely hardcore games because of the high level of sophistication in gameplay.
Of those games you mentioned, only Star Wars' gameplay has been shown (it wasn't even a demo) and I wouldn't call that hardcore.
I think it's the other way around. PS3 has so many great games coming out already and the system is only getting more popular by the second. MH wouldn't stand a chance.

Mmmm like someone already pointed out, PS3 is on par with the 360 in term of sale number and it's been out for more than 1 year after the 360. That is, the PS3 has sold almost the same amount in less than 4 years vs 360's 5 years. So I don't really what you're so excited about.
Yeah, that's how technology evolves. You create new things on top of what currently available, instead of building everything up from scratch. Besides, Wii and Move use very different technology. Just so you know, Move can track 3D movements and positions while Wii can't (let alone the high level of precision). Of course, the Move has the advantage of coming out later, hence more time for Sony to perfect it.
