The same is true for any business who has shareholders and strives to report good earnings every quarter. So, basically everyone in the gaming business including Sony and Microsoft?
I'm not sure why we say it like it's a bad thing. I mean, Sony saw that it worked for Nintendo. They saw a demand for it. It's not shameless for any company to do something that is / will trend to generate revenue. In this industry, this "copy" happens a lot and there's nothing wrong with that. They will do it and see if there's demand for it and continue doing it if it's successful.
I have to respond to @SuperSonic91 because these comments are getting ridiculous.
As someone who owns all of the consoles this gen and proudly plays every game I can, I will remind you that Sony initially had also many ports from the PS3 gen. Your comment is an example of extreme bias.
Guess what? Many of us enjoyed Uncharted series , TLOU, Heavy Rain, etc. On the PS3 which sold over 80 million during its lifetime.
Sony reached a broad aud...
I don't blame them for not focusing on multimedia services, for now. I believe they are more focused on making the user experience as far as gaming goes as best they can. We live in a world where many people (notice, said many not all) have multiple devices that do these things anyways. Sure, it's a "nice to have" feature, but don't necessarily find it mandatory unless you're one of those few who exclusively rely on just one device for everything.
I have this game. I love it on PC.. but let's be honest here. It still stutters at times even with a 1080ti. I wish the devs focused a lot more on optimizing the game now and hold off on content to officially "release" it. I wouldn't mind paying for more content as the game itself is amazing (IMO, especially with other people). Please though, begin optimizing the game for console users as well as PC. It's a lot better now over time, but still needs a few kinks worked out...
@Ziggurcat But they are in the end, a business. Linking accounts on as "many switches" as possible just opens up people buying one copy of a game and sharing it across multiple devices. Some people already do that with some titles on Steam. I get what you are saying, and to some extent I agree; But a company will not want people sharing games across multiple devices.
About as many as Uncharted 4 articles when it was released? :-) What's the problem with Switch articles? I mean.. N4G only takes articles from different sources and puts them on one page (or multiple). Everyone is talking about the Switch. It's a new shiny gaming thing. Just like every other new shiny gaming thing that comes out with 100s of articles that follow.
@_-EDMIX-_ Frosbite already compiles for portable devices, sir.
Hey @Rimfro, I actually have wondered about this myself. It looks like it will only output up to 1080p (so like the current PS4) or 4K. I've asked a friend of mine to test, but this seems to be the case which is why I won't upgrade (for now).
As much as I'd like PS4 Pro, I don't think I can justify upgrading to a new monitor (I game on a monitor) to 4K. I currently game @ 1440 144hz, with the PS4 obviously at 60hz. I looked at the specs of the system and it will either output at the standard PS4 resolutions ~1080p OR 4K. Nothing in between. So I was pretty bummed out at that, unless someone can confirm for me that you can indeed change to resolution to anything in between 1080p - 4K.
Other than that, I...
@Starchild the disagrees you are getting says it all.. It's amazing how much people don't know how much Uncharted was influenced by Tomb Raider by some degree. Just like the new reboot was influenced by Uncharted.. it happens guys. No one is saying one is better than the other.
And @TheVigilanteCode, I also look forward to the old school Tomb Raider type :)
By that logic, PS4 and Xbox One are running on "souled up" netbook tech as well.
You can't dismiss a hardware on specs alone. Do you have information about exactly what kind of specs this thing has? What APIs are being used to develop? How easy it is for games to be ported over? Are you going to post a lot of links to "hypothetical" assumptions to prove a point?
Nintendo is doing what it has always done since the very beginning, ...
I think what a lot of people don't see the bigger picture. If Nintendo truly adopted a SoC like Nvidia Tegra, or a mixture of ARM technology or heck even x86, developers will see this as a major opportunity.
Lets be honest here; Nintendo dominates the handheld market. Always has, always will (most likely). Nintendo's biggest mistake back then on the Wii U was using proprietary architecture instead of a more common architecture other competitors decided to go for. T...
It saddens me to see the state of mind that lots of us as people tend to have. All the hate comments on here don't surprise me, but it still is disappointing.
I don't defend Sean and his "PR" when he was showing the game. On the contrary, he is every bit to blame for what has transpired.
The project itself looks like it was way too ambitious for the amount of people he may have had working on it. Lots of ideas were probably executed in a...
Agreed.
I've personally been enjoying this on my PC. Also looks absolutely stunning @ 1440p on a 144hz monitor. I have tried it on my Xbox One, but like others have reported load times can be pretty long at times. I'm glad I have the option of playing it on either PC or Xbox; This was a very good move on Microsoft's part to start releasing games for both. After all, they are both Microsoft platforms.
I admit I was kind of worried when I pre-purchased the game and saw t...
@Kraenk12
No sir, "Real Gamers" are those that actually have a passion for gaming and enjoy the games on multiple platforms. I have all of this gen's hardware + a PC (including Nintendo Wii U and handhelds). Those who win at the end of the day are those who truly love gaming, not those who are biased on towards one platform. They also don't get involved in petty arguments in "console wars".
This. The console itself is already hitting $400, and Sony really has just started to profit this generation much more than last gen. I mean, there is already backlash from multiple people on how it won't be capable of many native 4K rendered games to justify the price, so adding another $150 or so it would have been even worst. Sony played it safe as they cannot afford to take a hit per sale like Microsoft can. While to many "fanboys" Sony is "winning" the "conso...
You just went full retard. :)
That's a silly title. I don't believe Valve is out to compete with anyone, rather it's releasing a device to cater to its audience. While they have a mixed track record with hardware, their latest hardware has bee fantastic.
I have a switch and thoroughly enjoy it. I travel(ed) quite a bit pre-COVID and will ramp up again after this year and it was always the device I brought with me vs a huge gaming notebook to play my games. However, this changes things for me...
