oh, i am calm, i can do all the hacking and tech stuff, open up the 360, BUT I do run a risk of screwing up! Small as it may be. hehe. Everyone hold their breath when I open it up. I also worry MS will never repair my console after I do this, even if i pay them, which would mean I would have to buy a whole new 360 if i can't fix this myself.
But really I want to exhaust my options at MS first, because they SHOULD be the ones to fix my console. Not me and my super glue.

I will open it up if MS refuse to help me... i shouldn't have to do this though!
I think it must be something snapped off- the drive just won't read when i close the tray, it just opens right up again. the DVD drive ISN'T being engaged, hell it may not even power up for all I am seeing. The moswt worrying thing is after looking online, I AM NOT ALONE. This is becoming a common problem, and seems to have increased since people started using the boot to dash feature... this is just o...
thanks anyway for the suggestino daewoo... thankyou mart for the researching, i SERIOUSLY appriciate it! its getting complex...
I have been up most of the night looking at tech forums too- I agree. I will have to open up the 360, get to the drive, either find the broken piece or replace the drive (after extracting the key and flashing firmware). Even then it may not work, and i may just fu(k my 360 up more.
Nightmare.
Ebay also has several heat p...
thanks mart, but i already told them the problem and gave my serial number. they said i had to pay now as my warrenty was over (it ended like a week ago!!!?!!!). i am so pissed.
i doubt people would give me $130 to fix my poor 360, but thats a nice dream!
i'll just have to wait... and be sad.
i am hassling MS through their email now. I told them it is their fault my xbox isn't working, so they should pay for it.
I don't know about PS3.
but i need my console fixed.
90 days from purchase

this makes me worry.
DAMN CHEVY!
I hate it when companies let people down.
I'm serious- totally out of the blue, I eject a DVD and it starts making a terrifying crunching sound.
The drive now refuses to stay closed! I turn it on, and the drive pops open! I turn it off, the drive pops open! I put a game in, it closes, doesn't even attempt to read the disc and opens.
I just won't stay closed or read a disc. 5 months of playing- this is not my fault, I am Pissed at Microsoft. I just started emailing them.

I am seriously so upset I feel suicidal again.
sigh.
I feel like quitting gaming... I may have no choice, but it is one of the things I really love to do.
:(
fu(k. i'm going to miss COD2 and Halo2.
they will know its a drive error as they will have to replace the drive, and they already made a record. i will have to pay 128, plus 30 shipping. it's only 5 months old!!!!
i had no problem until now, my warrenty ran out a week ago
WTF god?
:*(
i am going to go yell at MS through email

i will need it

okay, today i went to take a DVD from my 360, it was playing fine. i pressed the open button and it made a horrible grinding sound. the disc came out spinning fast, and i was freaked out. i put the disc back in, same grinding sound. i eject it again, it jams halfway. i put the disc back in one last time and it closes, doesn't read the disc and spits out the DVD. i close it, it opens again without reading. it turns on, it opens, i close it, it opens. My 360 is dead.
i call ms cu...
I gotta say Halo 3 and GOW have better graphic engines though...
thats what i am saying, there is no good reason to not have the same light sources, because that is not an area of processing that the PS3 has a edge in.
this looks great! i can't wait until i can play this on Live!
though i don't see why the PS3 has extra light sources, that is lame. the 360 is more than capable of all the real time lighting, so why not develop it equally?
good graphics here though i see some jaggies, reminds me of a anime GRAW. finally, something impressive for PS3!
If they can get some good multiplayer and a quality control interface, this game will rock! and that means NO LAG, okay Konami servers?!
Last night I went back through 38 pages of complaints on xbox.com, and there were about 20 seperate people with the same problem as me. In the thread I linked, there was several with the same problem as me- grinding then refusing to close, though some of them still had drives that attempted to read.
I can do the drive swap fine, i just don't feel i should have to. and i still don't have the money for a replacement drive to put in myself...
lol
