Yes, I do believe that. They did it with the Wii, they tried it with the WiiU, and they're doing it again with the Switch. No company is that inept that they are so unaware of demand that they can fumble three consecutive console launches.

Not for gaming. Ryzen doesn't match the i5 in that department. But for non gaming applications it's better.
I'll stick with intel and nvidia. AMD is garbage.
On top of that, I'd pass on sub 1080p resolutions on a 4k display.
Trophies/achievements tied to multiplayer stuff have ruined many online experiences. Especially when it's stupid stuff like kill "X" players with some random awful weapon that is only going to troll your team.

The investment today will last longer than this generation of consoles, and will carry you into the next generation without the requirement of re-spending everything you did at the beginning of a build. Plus you save money on the lack of yearly online subscriptions and you have a larger pool of game sales thanks to the multitude of online outlets charging less than $59 for new games.
