I know Microsoft's orignial vision for the Xbox One was a real crappy one but one thing that really excited me was cloud computing. Now that we're finally seeing it come to fruition, I'm glad we can finally put a stop to the idiocy of all those 'power of teh cloudz' people who didn't believe it was a real thing even though Microsoft has been investing billions upon billions of $s in it for years now. They've said cloud computing can be used for npcs, matchmaking, e...
People have explained this to you, many times already but hell, I'll try again. Microsoft can subsidise 3rd party devs if they're going to be using cloud computing in their XB1 versions of their games to allow them to take advantage of Microsoft's Azure infrastructure. This doesn't translate to the other system because of practicality, it will be costing Sony a lot of money to rent servers, licesenses etc. and it just isn't economically viable for them as a business to do ...
Remember that 'no parity' hashtag that was going around earlier on this gen? I want that back because I don't want Xbox One versions held back if they could be made better in the cloud
I can't speak on behalf of the millions of Xbox gamers but personally, I have a lot of friends and colleagues who haven't upgraded to Xbox One yet and when I ask why I normally get the answer 'I have so many Xbox 360 games' or something along those lines. Those that say BC won't move consoles are foolish
US, Canada and the UK
Yes unfortunately a comment grounded on reality does seem to piss off two sets of die hard fanboys in this system war but oh well, a few disagrees never killed no body
Yes you're right about it being early days, apart from Crackdown 3, I've only seen reports of one other (unannounced) game that's using cloud - http://gearnuke.com/unannou... but I'm excited to see what the future holds. One can but wonder if Microsoft hadn't done that 180 and stuck to to an always-online console whether this tech would've progressed further but alas...
"I hope Sony jump on board if they can." Just ignoring the obvious money problem they would have we can't forget the stuff that can't just be easily copied which are the software tools/engines that are being developed here and likely have taken MS years to conceptualize and perfect. They'd still need to have tools to make it all work in their games, though. Unless you're suggesting that they license from Cloudgine which is possible. Then again, if they're renting ...
How is this even a question? 30 games at such a cheap price, nothing beats it (value wise)
No, but it will be and a game like Resogun, a true ps4 exclusive (and better in my opinion) better suits this list
Looks amazing graphically, especially for a f2p game!
Remasters (when done right) and backwards compatibility complement each other very nicely that it's far better to have the option of both.
I'd replace Rocket League with Resogun because Rocket League isn't a ps4 exclusive, it's 100% confirmed coming to Xbox One
"even though it MAY NOT be as powerful as PS4" There is no 'may not' pure specs wise, ps4 has a more powerful gpu than the Xbox One. However, I hardly see how that is relevant to this article in question
Is this even a question? 3arc all day
They already did one, good ol' Kotaku http://www.kotaku.co.uk/201...
Are you talking to me? If you look at my recent comments I'm sure you'll see I do not 'put down all things Playstation' as someone who has been a PS gamer longer than an Xbox player I compliment them and criticise them when appopriate. Just because I don't praise every single damn thing, that doesn't mean I put everything down.
The problem with that is that it practically means devs have to develop two games and with how expensive games are to develop nowadays, a lot of devs would opt for one or the other. For an always online console you have to go ahead with it fully or not at all. I still think the gaming community got pushed back with all the backlash Microsoft faced, always online consoles are the future.
Zenith "the time at which something is most powerful or successful." I had to check that one up but apart from that, I completely agree. Warzone alone looks amazing!
The possibilities I think are what excite me the most, I hope Microsoft continue to innovate with this tech as it really will push the gaming industry forward
