Experience. Nintendo has been in the Handheld gaming biz for almost 30 years. Sony can't expect to just waltz right in and take over half of the Gameboy fanbase that Nintendo has gathered over the years, can they? And even though PSP has GTA, Gran Turismo (not yet) and God of War, they'll still need more time to build a fanbase like Nintendo has.
But the PSP is by no means a failure :)
...And it's only my 2nd 10. All I own right now is a Wii so all I can review are Wii games and last gen games. And if you think I think EVERY Wii game is a 10...

Look at Sega. They always tried to be first whether it was the Genesis (1989) or the Dreamcast (1998). The result? They got killed by Nintendo (SNES, 1991) and Sony (PS2, 2000). And they eventually stopped making systems altogether.
The reason is that if one system is already released, it gives other system developers a chance to plan ahead and make their system better. Microsoft is headed down the same road as Sega if they keep it up.
With a game like Boom Blox, it couldn't have been done on another system because of innovations that the Wii has that PS3 and 360 just don't!
If the Wii is WAAAY in the lead according to sales, and Boom Blox is a game for ALL AGES, then how, HOW would it sell better on xbl and psn?

Anyway, of course 2D is still alive! Even when the DS bites the dust we'll still probably see some 3D side-scroller Castlevanias like the one on PSP =)
You're not missing out on much. It's got like 10 shooting games (including House of The Dead 2-4), a couple racing games, Marvel vs. Capcom 2, Super Monkey Ball, Skeeball, an Air Hockey table and a guitar game (not like Guitar Hero). It sucks, though because all of the games are really old and they never get new ones. Of course according to this it's because the Arcades are dead.
I think I got rid of it, though. Because my Dreamcast went to crap. But it started working again and now I have to get all my games back! Damn!
I tried playing Crazy Taxi in an Arcade once. It's a lot harder than on DC, that's for sure!
Hey, I'm in Tucson! You're talking about the GameWorks in Foothills mall, right? They charge like $3 for Daytona USA 2. And it's like 12 years old! Even the arcade at my Wal-Mart was replaced with some Real Estate Agency! It's depressing...
I remember when the first Soul Calibur was released in the Arcade at Peter Piper Pizza. I must've only been about 5 or 6 years old. I probably wasted at least 50 tokens on that game. I miss it...:(

They're all about new gaming experiences and making a great system for Hardcore (at least they're TRYING to do that, anyway) and Casual gamers. THAT'S why the Wii and DS are dominating the sales market right now.
To me, 6 is good, 7 is really good, 8 is great, 9 is amazing, and 10 is near-perfect (there is no perfect game). Also, Road Rash got a 7.5 not because it wasn't awesome but because it was almost exactly like Road Rash 1. That's all.
As for GTA1, I just thought it was far too shallow compared to other GTAs and the other PS1 games of the time. It's okay, because I knew people would say that :)
