'77-'92? Wow! I did not know that! I thought Atari was dead in '84! But wait, weren't the 2600, 5200, and 7800 all different systems? If they were, then it doesn't count! (I'm pretty sure they were. Correct me if I'm wrong, because I really don't know!) :)

The reason Sony doesn't drop the PS2 is because they're waiting for the PS3 sales to pick up. So until it does, they'll keep milking that cash cow until it's farting dust, so to speak.
And here's a fun fact! If the PS2 keeps going until 4/09, it will officially be the longest running CONSOLE in video game history (NES takes it right now. '85-'94. may it rest In peace)! Cool! :)
