Fable II must have been a huge flop too, because it only did 350,000 first day with a bigger install base.
Demon's Souls did about 100,000 first week if I remember correctly. Atlus just isn't known for printing out a crap load of copies.
300,000 day one, actually...not Week one.
Selling 300,000 day one is something alot of games wish they could do.
