If there is no or limited backward compatibility the PS3 will live a long time. If there is full backward compatibility the PS3 dies fairly quickly.

I predict Bayonetta 2 Sigma for PS3 and 360...

That is the way around these ridiculous contracts.

If you spend $100,000,000 on a game engine you would release sequels as well to maximize pay-off on the investment.

It has less to do with fear and more to do with sunk costs and brand recognition.

If a game is multiplatform it should release simultaneously on all platforms and it should have the same level of content.

What is so bad about that? That makes it fair for all platforms.

Nothing to write home about. Ninja Gaiden 3 was less than impressive.

The first 9 months of this year is just a recycling of gameplay elements already found in games previously in this generation for both the PS3 and 360...

I am sure the games will be solid but they will not compare to what we see at the end of the year on the new consoles.

There should be a ban on these articles.

Once every couple weeks some "journalist" comes on repeating the same arguements...

If you don't like Live go buy a PS3 and use the PSN.

I like backward compatibility.

There are a few situations where it applies...

1) Gamers who have their current consoles die will be faced with the choice of new gen console or last gen
2) Gamers who want the new gen games but want to still play their last gen games

I know you can just keep your old console, but it simplifies the TV room and theatre room setup if you have only one console.

I think that trophies and ac...

This is not remarkable... Everything about this generation is fading.

I know I will get flamed for this but I have to say it anyhow...

We gamers need to buy the games we play...

Darksiders II - A solid game with about 1.25m in total sales across 4 platforms.

Saints Row 3 - A great open sandbox game. About 4.75m sales after two years across three platforms.

Homefront - A solid shooter. About 2.5m sales across four platforms after two plus years.

Assuming each game was $100,000...

These articles continue to miss the point.

Sony and Microsoft are not limited to what they provide through their services. Instead, they have chosen different business models and bundled their services differently.

Just like buying a car where one has better gas mileage and one doesn't. If that is the key important feature for you, you would go buy the car with better gas mileage.

I do prefer Live over PSN Plus (I am a subscriber to b...

This is sad. I really enjoyed both Darksiders games...

I would've thought that this series would be a good fit for Warner Brothers as the series is large and deep enough to also become a series of movies.

RIP Vigil.

If a person is unstable and is prone to go and kill other people, video games will neither trigger it nor hold it back.

Typically, the trigger is a highly emotional life event.

Typically, when I play video games I find it a great way to relax and relieve stresses of real life.

Why shoot someone and go to jail? I can go on an epic killing spree online and everyone calls it fun!

Alan Wake is a great series. With the next gen it will only be better. As I played the game I felt that the 360 didn't have the power for this game to reach its full potential.

Alan Wake was solid, American Nightmare was a great XBLA title.

Queue Alan Wake 2 as an epic launch game for the next generation!

Say whatever people want about EA but they have had a bunch of solid IPs this gen...

Their sports IPs have continued to evolve, Mass Effect, Dante's Inferno, Crysis, Dragon's Age, Battlefield, Mirror's Edge, Need for Speed, Burnout, Dead Space, Skate, etc.

I predict they will get Saints Row as they do not have a true sandbox game.

Warner will probably get Warhammer, Metro, and Darksiders.

These articles should read, Most anticipated game for the first 3/4 of 2013...

We know in the last quarter there will be a bunch of new games on new console(s) and everyone will forget about the first 3/4 of the year.

Nintendo will bring heavy hitters to the Wii U, MS will be ringing in the next xbox, and PS might even see a new PS4. All of which will have great games.

I think every three months someone simply copies and pastes this article from somewhere...

This is an old argument and a waste of time...

No one forces people to buy an Xbox or Live Gold... They choose to...

And to this date my account has never been compromised on Live whereas on PSN Plus my credit card info was stolen and used costing me a lot of money and grief. I can pay for 56 years of Live with the money I lost in that mess. I will n...

"This represents an affordable option for those who wish to upgrade their current PlayStation 3 consoles".

OK, tell me how that would be an upgrade for any current PS3 owner? All current PS3's have more than 12GB HD space.

Given the mandatory installs this would be a downgrade for any current PS3 owner.
