Many of the reviews have been based on the PS4 version which was played at a Ubisoft review event.
This includes the 9/10 EDGE review

That's an absolutely brilliant advert that is a celebration of the PlayStation history and how it has been a part of gamers' lives.
I love the little touches like showing the posters and music the guy was into during the PS1 era and how his tastes have changed but the one constant is PlayStation!
This is a big deal for bedroom coders and indies. There are a number of tools on Windows that make game creation easy and affordable. If the games made this way can be easily converted to XB One then it really does democratise game creation.
Assassin's Creed II was brilliant but the games in-between have been a little bit filler, thankfully AC IV looks like it could be a return to form.
Making the franchise bi-annual is a great idea because it gives the development teams time to use gamer feedback to improve the next one and gives gamers a chance to miss the game and be excited by the next instalment. In turn this means the series could have a longer more successful shelf-life.
Cool report. I went to Eurogamer and enjoyed it. But for next year more thought needs to be put into how some of the queues are set up.
Phil Harrison thinks that Crytek with a roster of 200 staff is an indie - I have to disagree.
By his definition that would mean that any non first-party studio like EA or Ubisoft is indie! I think of indies as a very small teams maybe a team of five, maybe just one person. Hardly any resources, often these guys and girls are surviving of savings or family and making games for the love of it. Because they don't have financial backing they often come up with unique or creat...
I'm not a fan of websites reviewing a game before it's gone gold and telling us it could be bad. The standard editorial stance is to be cautiously optimistic. Hopeful that it will be good and mention the things that stand out as bad. But not actually passing judgement until the real review a lot can change between a development version and the final version.

2. FIFA give medals to all the players at World Cup Football finals.
Many Football leagues across the world also give medals.
Stars is actually a great name! Fits in with the winning idea and the family brand.
Nintendo Stars!
Achievements are not for everyone - anybody who doesn't like them can ignore them. But for those who enjoy earning them they add to the experience and can add more gameplay value as you try to earn extra achievements from a game.
In an age where sharing with Facebook and Twitter is important to many people, what both Microsoft and Sony have done very successfully with their Achievements/Trophies is allow gamers to have a permanent high score record that is publicly viewab...

After a year of some brilliantly funny memes I'd love to see the mighty Kaz Hirai stride on to the stage. :)

ShopTo resident blogger Joe Anderson originally posted this message on the news page of their website [which was edited but the google cache shows the original]
"“The Xbox One is now available as part of a bundle with either FIFA 14 or Forza 5. You will be able to use our handy swap feature in the next few hours if you have already chosen the console with FIFA 14 – that’s if you’d like to swap. Either way, you won’t lose your place in the queue...
ShopTo originally promised their original pre-order customers could swap the FIFA 14 bundle for the Forza 5 bundle but they have backtracked. They still have the Forza 5 units but are only selling them in their own more expensive retail bundles!

Does anybody know if Home is being retired or relaunched on PlayStation 4?
The junior insiders I've spoken to just don't seem to know.
An Xbox One friend being able to chat with his PlayStation 4 friend across console platforms is a great idea. Not everyone will want to use it but no one loses! :)
Xbox One live reintroduction event confirmed!
Another 180. Just two weeks ago Major Nelson denied this story!

The indie developer on his 'Social Network' profile says he works at Microsoft. "Current - Executive Producer at Microsoft" as well as being CEO of his own indie company.
Therefore he is a Microsoft employee who his comments were made (via video) at an official Microsoft event.
It's no biggie. Just a bit of banter! But he is a Microsoft Exec.
The video is 22 seconds long and is an edited section of Microsoft's half-hour Gamescom showcase. The full video can be seen here:

An excellent interview. David Jenkins from Metro deserves a lot of respect for this.
So many writers on video game websites and magazines think it is their job to sit on the fence and never ask difficult questions because they fear a developer or publisher will stop further access. But Jenkins asked Mark Rubin some tough questions about performance whilst always maintaining a professional and friendly tone. He asked questions that real gamers want to know the truth about incl...
