You can play all of these games still lol. The headline is just misleading. Funny is that there is not one game in the list that you really can't play anymore due to it being online only games.

@ Batman, while the engine was fresh it used many original sprites from the classic games, both the stages, sounds, character sprites was all directly copied
Different situation, probably because it used mostly the old games itself and was not a real fan-game in the sense that everything but the characters or worlds were original
