You do realise this contract for timed exclusive DLC was made 3-4 years ago and included fallout 3, new Vegas and now skyrim?
Lets say for example 30,000 people decided they would buy an Xbox for this. Those people go on to buy XBL membership and they then buy all the DLC packs for at least 1 of those games. Here's my math based on uk prices:
30k xbox's retail value: £6mil (varies on SKU)
All buy 12 months XBL...

You gotta understand it from a buisness aspect though. Like with the GTA 4 exclusive DLC (which turned out to be timed) clearly brought in some sales for the xbox 360 and their version of GTA 4.
If similar happens with GTA 5 it would be a good deal for them although this time i doupt people will buy a 360 if they think it will come out on PS3 a year later.
Everyone forgot about Tomb raider??? That game looked awesome last year and i think MS will be supporting it to try and get their "own" Uncharted (to an extent since Tomb raider is multiplat).
I also want to see EPIC's new game again. It looked like a pure Horde game which looked pretty awesome to play with friends.
Dunno why we bother asking for better graphics lol. Its guaranteed to get better every gen not matter what.

Uncharted trilogy
Mass effect trilogy
Alan wake
Assassins creed franchise
These are some of the games with brilliant scripting and storyline which was near absent last gen (well on the level those games are on) and would be possible if PC's hadn't advanced. Also the animations in uncharted are amazing and there's nothing that can compare...

You made a good point too. I myself am an EVE player and if Dust 514 screws up for PS3 players it screws up EVE's planet invading mechanic. Theres a lot riding on this for CCP and its probably the biggest risk a dev has taken in the past decade.
Good! This is the real way to do a beta. Dont give access to anyone who just takes up space on your server, only let those who truly care about its success test it. EVE players are the best candidates for this so im happy they are only allowing access to their REAL dedicated fans.
When you see the price tag of the 360 compared to the ps3's launch pricing at the time it was definitely worth the price but it wasn't affordable.
The 360 succeeded with a "shocking" price tag and i think Sony thought "hey our hardware is for a fact better so surely people will understand why its priced this high" unfortunately quality doesn't always mean affordability and so Sony had to play catch up till 2009.
The 2 definitely have different visions on how they want their system to evolve but again all these ideas sound brilliant (like with the PS3) but it would be better if Sony start out with a lower price tag.
MS had the same issue but i think as soon as gears of war 1 released (which was a graphical marvel considering it was early on this gen) later followed by halo 3 things began to get into a steady swing.
