You can't go wrong with Borderlands. It's a GREAT game. It really does mix a lot of great games into one, and it's STILL original. I actually had to force myself to stop playing it.

If Sony goes the way of making you upgrade firmwares to access PSN and playing new games like they do for the PSP, I don't think homebrew would be worth it. It'd be interesting to see what people could make with the PS3's hardware, but in all honesty, you'd be out of luck if you want to play games online.
Not to mention the high costs of blank blu-rays and an actual blu-ray burner.

I think your mind is running rampant with anti-Microsoft notions. No one is dissing Sony, you're just trying to make it look like they are. If anything, Sony should be praised for wanting the latest tech available on their console. Sony didn't invent 3D(at least, I don't think), so why should people be angry at them?
I see some value in 3D Tvs, but I think for a lot of people, they just don't want to have to upgrade YET again. I don't think you should blame Sony.
SD was fine for normal consumers, then came along HD, and if you wanted a premium TV, HD was what you got.
Now that HDTVs are dropping in price, they introduce 3D so that people have to upgrade once again.

Also, if Sony and Microsoft both offer HD consoles WITH the capabilities of the Wii, what's the point of the Wii? I only see Nintendo franchises standing in the way of Natal and Sony's Wand, not the casual market.
Rising, just get a PSP. They're worth it. PSPGo if you want a sleek hand held with 16Gb already built in, or get a PSP 2000 or 3000 if you want an affordable price with the possibility of running homebrew.
I have both a 2000 and a GO. I'm not disappointed with either purchase.
