Yeah I don't see these guys wanting to be bought by SONY anytime soon. The team is comprised of ex Sony staffers whose whole team was sacked by SONY.
It would be a loss to gaming if SONY picked these guys up only to sack em down the line due to them being in financial disarray.
I'm not a doctor or anything so I can't say this with full certainty or with any sort of professional clout, but I do believe you struck a nerve there foxtrot.
That argument doesn't hold water when games like Knack make it through somehow and nobody gets sacked for that mediocrity.
I understand canning game but not firing people and saying g it is normal or due to a particular project being cancelled.
That is a double edged sword though. Restructuring a studio could also mean disrupting the natural flow they have developed over the years. Just look at Stig, he was not laid off but after some of his colleagues were sacked he opted to bow out himself because (possibly) it just didn't feel right anymore.
So on the one hand it may be great to be more optimized, but on the other hand it may just lead to an exodus of talented staff.
No, instead we should be elated that there are mass layoffs and game cancellations at Sony. This happens all the time right? I mean so what if a person has been there for 10 years and is now jobless? This is no time for gloominess, this is the time for jubilation.
Come on everybody, be joyous, because yet again the PS division is proving to be immune to the company wide restructure brought on by financial woes.

Yes, losing friends and people you have worked with since even before being acquired by Sony is always such a healthy thing.
Umm stab in the dark here, I'd wager he means this very project that was canned...or the Santa Monica project since that one had over 50 people canned along with it.
Either way, take your pick. Both times people trued to sweep it under the rug.
What you are describing is a contract. You do not conduct mass layoffs (50 or more people) and call it end of contract/project.
I bet you these people didn't expect to lose their jobs today, pretty sure if you had read the article you'd know and understand that these jobs are being terminated mid project and not in a timely manner at all.
Why are Sony fans so content with sticking their heads in the sand? I mean come on, it is no secret that Sony ...
You are mistaken. Contracts end and no news needs to be reported. Lay-offs are premature terminations of contracts.
So this is not the same as a project being completed and contracts expiring due to it, these are contracts that are being terminated in an untimely fashion.
Do you not find it odd that the layoffs are happening at the same time across 3 different studios who have various projects that are very likely all in different stages?

Lol, dualshockers is the Gestapo of gaming journalism for PlayStation. Propaganda is real folks.
Semi-on topic, what does Vita have to offer the non-ps4 owner this year?
Seriously, aren't you apologists tired of coming up with reasons for PSN downtimes? I mean come on, there is always some download you people concoct.
Why not wait for an explanation if there is one instead of always damage controlling?
Look at those software totals, even without TitanFall, Xbox One is tops with 90k
This is good. More consoles sold, more games made. I do not see why anybody needs to be negative about this.
I thought people were eating their controllers...at least that's what n4g agreed was happening.
Sony do not always make mistakes...but when they do, we sweep them under the rug and pretend they don't.
Not sure that's a good thing =__= Wold encourage even more paid demos
Really? On ps3? I do not pay for PSN on PS3.
Policy has not changed, it has always been the case that you cannot put platinum trophies on a demo.
Stop paying for them then.
This is the problem with buying what you can't afford. Sony went on a studio buying spree to save the PS3 and it worked but now can't afford to maintain them all.
I hope they refrain from any more studio purchases until they have their house in order.
I wonder if people are still under the illusion that Sony's woes won't affect PlayStation.
